Every Pisces I know likes their booze but it could be a coincidence. My Pisces best friend works wine into her meal plan even when hardcore dieting. Scorpios I have met seem more about the drugs.
But the biggest factor of substance abuse is pain, not star sign.

and such have a semi buffer for when we use substances

I prefer psilocybin in terms of getting high from an exogenous source/ligand
( tried it once and it did help me with depression but also gain insight about destructive thinking patterns I have and how i should go about actively changing them)
however, the best high comes from yoga for me which i hypothesize is similar to a runner's high
in terms of the fact that it's a high derived from extreme physical exertion.
endorphins our bodies natural opiates are released to help facilitate a general seem of calm and well being
i also like the practice of yoga too for its ability to aid in facilitating deep insight about ourselves

I feel like we are easily open to addiction because
one of our strongest defenses is escapism.
And something in us is linking us to some
kind of memory or knowing that this place
isn't it. That pain and suffering in any form is false.
So as a kid it was video games...and art(?)
now it's food. Well, I've slowly learned
to just eat one or twice a day and see it as
something like a sacred event. My taste buds
are so strong and food can be so damn good to me.
Just tired of all the things around me that isn't an authentic
representation of who we really are. So finding what feels good feels right.
And I guess what feels right is linked to that feeling of love. Which is linked from that illusion (unhealthy addiction)

Well, let's look at my chart, since it contains ample amounts of both.
Cancer - Rising, Moon, Sun, Mercury
Pisces - Midheaven, Mars

I can pretty much do whatever I tell myself to do and I've never had any sort of addiction. I have Neptune in the 6th and I have read that this can make someone prone to alcoholism and other addictions. But that Neptune is also near my 6th Saturn, which I believe instills this will power in me.
Thus, simply looking at signs isn't enough to determine susceptibility to addictions. You have to look at planet locations and aspects. A 6th house planetary focus can bestow one with health-oriented (Virgo) tendencies and help one to avoid drugs, regardless of sensitive Pisces/Cancer energy present throughout the chart. I knew a Pisces who would probably strongly argue the latter there.
Pretty much all of the Pisces people I have known have used drugs and/or alcohol, though I dont think all of them necessarily have a problem with it. Some definitely do though. Drug and alcohol abuse are just common escape tools for humans, and we all have our reasons.

No thats a stereotype for sure. I flushed down the pain meds a few days after my car accident cause I didn't like how they were making me feel. Like a stranger in my own body.
I smoke weed every day and will do a 'break' for a week every monthish, give or take so my tolerance levels go down.
Have a full weekend off tho so Imma do shrommies later tonight. Haven't in a good while.

I don’t even enjoy drinking, hate the hangovers so if I drink it would have to be in a social setting.
In saying all that, I do think I have an addictive personality and I tend to over do things that make me feel good like I love running and put a lot of time and effort into running because it makes me feel good. Yeah runners high is a thing .
For me it’s yoga .
It’s the only thing that’s helped with the depression. So far .
I know this is an old thread however I’d like to share my experience as a Pisces. I struggled heavily with an addiction to intravenous carfentanyl, xanax, and uppers for 2 1/2 years, with 5 overdoses. I used drugs to escape reality and whatever hurt I felt at the time. The drugs made me feel confident and safe, I used uppers to perform better at work and would shoot carfentanyl/heroin with a benzo like xanax to come down during the night. If a Pisces is really hurt the craving to escape via narcotics is very strong. If any other struggling Pisces reads this, choose life. There’s hope beyond the insanity of addiction. Reach out, there’s bound to be someone who loves you, don’t self destruct.

It's a slippery slope. I have trouble sleeping so sometimes I take sleeping pills. Then I start to think about mixing it up with alcohol :/ Didn't do it because that's just fucking dumb, but still tempted sometimes.

In my experience, they all do but it differs between men and women.
For Pisces women, they usually seem to abuse weed. Heavier drugs are abused if they've been abused. For some reason, the women seem to come out of it better than the men. They usually always wind up being generally pro-weed and being productive and somehow always into horticultural stuff in those cases.
The men in the worst case always abuse whatever substance of their choice and remain in that state forever. If I had a dollar for every lanky piscean man I know, who barely goes outside and just smokes weed and cracks beers from sun up til sundown, I'd have Jeff Bezos washing my dishes.
If they're more stable, they tend to still get uber wasted when out drinking but aren't necessarily alcoholics.
I have a pisces friend who is a super stoner but has her masters.
Lol there a lot of people who smoke every day who make 6 figures ( not my friend though).
She's not in STEM and is a woman.
I personally don't really like thc/ cannabis.
But CBD has been super beneficial for my chronic.
psilocybin is great though. * NO abuse* potential ( you develop rapid tolerance for on) l...annd good for those struggling with depression.
