Idk. Those type of people still exist in America till this day. Imo they are true Americans. They delt with some of the most fucked up social turmoil a human could deal with, and still keep going. The root is everything that exists. Scientifically its where all of humanity as we know started. You might try to deny it, but your existence originated from Africa. At one point in time your ancestors were African. In America's terms they were slaves at one point, and treated like shit even after they were free. And are still treated as a minority till this day, yet still try to live life just like the rest of us here. And if push came to shove they would risk their life to protect the things they love, just like any American. They are deep rooted in the history of the USA, and alway will be. They have the rights to this place just as everyone else. It's called equality, which is a term all people in the US need to recognize.

It’s just a way of saying someone is born in America ie American but recent lineage is African. I do think most people think just say ‘black’ cause who knows who was born in America or not.
