Yes, he is super intellectual and wise. I wouldn't let his political bias affect what I thought of his advice

Our lad went to see him live and really likes him, having said that he is a very strong guy too, so I guess like attracts like

He isn't dumb but he

1) doesn't understand a lot of things

2) then misrepresents those

which makes him at best incompetent or at worst intellectually dishonest if this is intentional.

I think the only reason he came to fame is that the american public discourse is soo damn starved of acteurs who actually present arguments and don't just screech and reee at each other for political gains.

Edit: Addendum: he is at least aware of underlying problems in our current social structure and trying to do something about that, which is admirable and more than most.

He’s not even American, he’s Canadian.

No, just no. Please read what I wrote. If he is aware that what he represents of postmodernism isn't correct he is intellectually dishonest. Plain and simple. He could also have been british or from a different nation but he still got his raise to fame through the way the american discourse works. His nationality is irrelevant for this

He can still be competent in his field but when it comes to philosophy he struggles.

What you are now doing with your post is exactly the thing you claim to be against within your post on multiple levels.

Just for clarifiaction: there are things I agree with him but when it comes to philosophy he simply seems to have not much understandig or even knowledge about it.

Literally hundreds if not thousands of psychologists and psychiatrist agree with his views. Millions upon millions also share his views.

The only ones who call him incompetent are the ones he’s outing 😉

For psychology yes, not philosophy, and psychology is an ever changing things subject to change like all other areas of sciene that aren't pure sciences like math, chemics, physics and theoretical philosophy.

The claim you make is a nonsensical one without any argument to support this. One does not win by claiming victory alone. Quite the opposite.

Well, in science the only certain thing is uncertainty, virtually every single theory could be either debunked or expanded, even in the pure sciences. Pure sciences can therefore be ever-changing too.
