What's the first thought that pops to mind if someone were to say these things to you?

"Sorry we haven't hung out much lately. I just want to be awake for my other friends (schedules require later evening plans)."

or

"I've moved in with roommates that I actually like, so that's kept me really 'busy.' "

or

"I'm free on Thursday. Let me know then." *an attempt to make plans on Thursday is made* "Oh, I already have plans."

That they have a lof of Fire in their chart.
Haha why fire?
Because it's quite blunt and brutally honest? haha the 2nd and 3rd lines, while less direct, are still half-hearted attempts at sparing the other person's feelings.

I'd take it as a blatant sign of disinterest, as well as irritation.

Interesting.

Funnily enough, the first one was someone back-pedalling like whoa.

My only problem would be the 3rd statement. Saying "I'm free for Thursday" then suddenly not so free anymore.

The other 2 sound like me all day, every day. No, I am not inconsiderate. Yes, time works differently for me. Yes, we are still friends. No, I don't hate you. Please, put the gun down.

Taken by themselves I wouldn't have a problem with the first 2. All 3 from the same person...your ass is either as mutable as mine is or this friendship has run its course or you're in a different phase in your life (with or without the friendship running its course)

Either way, I would step back. I wouldn't deem this person wishy washy on these statements alone, I would see if they reach out to me.

I understand the ways of the hermit I guess. Sometimes everyone in someone's life gets shuffled to the side for some sweet sweet hermit time. Well, unless we live together so I can't escape you.

First thought:
*😆. Cool. Do you, and don't call me when you wake up*

I tend to laugh when I hear bullsh*t.

I wouldn't be making any other attempts to hang out after the first response to hear these other excuses, so I wouldn't have any further thoughts on the matter.

Overall, the person is taking the friendship for granted. So I'm done. If and when I'm free we'll hang out. Or not. I'm cool with it.

"Sorry we haven't hung out much lately. I just want to be awake for my other friends (schedules require later evening plans)."

Means ... you're not important, I don't even consider worthy of being a friend yet I'm trying to act like I'm a nice person. (But they're not)

"I've moved in with roommates that I actually like, so that's kept me really 'busy.' "

Little harsher way to say the same as above. This person I'd probably snap their head off.

"I'm free on Thursday. Let me know then." *an attempt to make plans on Thursday is made* "Oh, I already have plans."

Game player, stringing you along. If the same person told me the first and second, I wouldn't even bother attempting any plans; They're not worth my time.

What pops into my mind:

I have a life.
I enjoy hanging out, and wish our schedule didn't suck, but you're not the only person whose company I enjoy.
Other people in my life need my attention, and we've been hanging out enough, so it's time I make space for them.
Finally, I don't have roommates from hell, and I can actually ENJOY being home!
I can't miss you if you won't leave.
I do like hanging with you - let me try and fit you into my busy schedule.
Damn, the calendar app is handy in helping me keep my commitments from overlapping!

.
Yeap, pretty much sums up my thoughts. It's nothing personal.

High school days are over; you'll never have a pussy-munching, rabbit-boiling bff again.

Enter adult life, it's all gonna be rather half-assed from there on.

lolz at all the various responses.

This is a situation that has been dealt with. I didn't need advice. I was in a pensive mood yesterday and had thought about all the insane bs lines I'd received from this individual. She, more or less, left me as a go to when nobody else was around. It's why the comments about "other friends" was actually pretty fucked up. It's less "you're getting on my nerves" and more "I'd rather prioritize all of them when they're available, and prioritize you when they aren't. You're only my friend when they don't choose me to hang out with."

She has barely any fire in her chart. The rest is dominantly air with some earth scattered about.

Just was curious to see what initial reactions were to such ridiculous/fucked up statements since our society has become really strange in handling any sort of relationship with courtesy anymore. Consensus in this thread seems to be flaky vs non flaky.

Basically, those of you who called bs would have been correct in your perceptions. She proved to be quite an opportunist and user. Those of you who pinned blame on the "receiver," the only thing that I ever "demanded" was basic respect for me as an individual, which wasn't given.

Needless to say, she was dropped awhile back. Ain't nobody got time for that. It just amazes me that people will say shit like this and think it's okay to even utter such things to begin with. When I was told things like this, it's like "do you HEAR yourself??" Good lord. :/

Anyone else ever received a bs line that was so ridiculous that it made you pause and wonder if they realize what they just said was fucked and gave away where they really stand with you?

@Rocky, hey! You asked for first reaction and I gave my first reaction. I demand an A on this assignment!
Haha nothing wrong with anyone's reactions. It was interesting to see the different perspectives. I was just curious to see what people thought of the statements. Just had to clarify to those who were blaming "the receiver" for someone's fucked up statement though.

They really said "I want to be awake for my other friends?"
Lol - ALRIGHTY THEN (first thought)

"I've moved in with roommates that I actually like"
If I was their roommate, ever, I would totally read that as a dig

The last one - someone's playing games.
You are so done, right?
