We have already gone there, lol....

But okay.....

...Ego is how you see yourself compared to how others see you.....

And then...

...If a person's selfishness is not linked to another person, he or she will abandon them...if it is linked, then the person will take care of them....

Yes, I have a hard time letting go of anything, lol

But you asked, so....

Please. Explain the diff?

Where is ego not involved?

sb- you seemed to be going on an idea of selfishness that is somehow dictated by your feelings surrounding the action in question- which is totally legit...

db- I identify with where you are coming from...as in- I view selfishness as an act that literally promotes the self in any way shape or form- regardless of how the person views the action- as in- there is no unselfish act...because if you do something as "selfless" as giving a homeless person a dollar- you do in fact recieve a "good feeling" from that action- therefore you get something in return even though the act was out of the goodness of your heart- still- you produced, in yourself, a happy emotion by giving hobo a buck.

BUT- I really do like how sb sees it...and I can admit that there can be a bad feeling around certain "selfish" acts...yet I feel that in that case you and db are not talking about the same thing...see?

but here it comes down to personal definitions of the word itself, if you each have a different set of conditions for what constitutes a selfish act than you cannot really fairly debate at all-
