Personally, I do not dislike them I simply prefer subtle public displays of affection.
In fact, I particularly enjoy when my s/o and I have our own code of looks and touches. To be able to communicate in such a way which still satisfies the need for public displays of affection whilst remaining very private.

As for your second question, public displays of affection and confidence are not correlated at all.
the other day i was with this guy ive been kinda seeing on n off and he straight up stuck his tongue down my throat.. absolutely not okay... I was embarrassed, that's messy to me.. For me it just feels awkward and uncomfortable. I shouldn't have to put on a show for others to prove my love. I'm also a very private person and in my opinion it's meant to be done behind closed doors.
