-Steve Guthrie is going to be a bodyguard for Paige Madisson who is tangled up in drama with a gang member. Paige’s mother Nola is a rich actress, but also an alcoholic. Her husband Owen has hired a new maid. Owen and Nola discuss/bicker about her drinking and the attempt on Paige’s life.
-Raven Swift and Elliot Dorn are having an affair behind their spouses back. Raven and Elliot wish they could get away together. Elliot is going to put one of his workers, Mickey, in charge of the bar Elliots wife Margo owns when he goes away next weekend.
-Paige continues to be naïve about the Tobias gang and especially gang member Jed despite what her family, Steve, Draper Scott, and Logan Swift are trying to tell her. Then Paige gets a phone call…

Logan receives the nomination for him to run for DA. Geraldine urges Raven to put her marriage first, for Logan's career's sake. Margo tries some blackmail to try and make sure Draper Scott is not hired.
Elliott entertains the Swifts and Geraldine at the Unicorn (and flirts with Raven) however an unpleasant call steels him away. Elliott Dorn and Mickey Dials play their card against Antoine. Is Antoine doomed? Margo continues to try and make David to get his partners to not hire Draper. Will her blackmail work?

August was pretty good for Edge of Night, but would have been even better without the someone out to kill Paige story. She acts too damn dumb. But also it has been featured the most when most of the other stories are far more interesting. The best being Raven too horny about her affair with Elliot to not only care about Logan, but even her baby. Plus Elliot is just as sleazy as she is cheating on Margo.

Edge of Night was always much different from other soap operas of this time.
Most of the other Soap Operas in the 70's and 80's were focused on high romance and certain popular couples.
EON is a soap opera that focuses on mysterious, crime, and the lives of criminals, cops, and lawyers.
Perhaps it bucking the trend of most other soaps is why it did not make it out alive from the 1980's, but the writing on the show was always great. They knew how to build a story and now we go all the way back to 1979.
