I watched the "revival" and then have been letting the old episodes play continuously on Netflix while I'm doing whatever while watching TV.

Needless to say, I don't understand the hype behind the show. I remember catching episodes here and there when it was on the air, but I never found myself catching it every time a new episode aired.

The show just comes across really pretentious, unrealistic, and Mary Sue-ish. Both of them are assholes, if you think about it, and some of the inaccuracies in topics that go beyond anything music and literature (clearly the creator's favorite subjects) make me cringe.

It's okay to watch as background noise, but there are times I have to turn it off because it's so...meh. The only thing I've been amused by the most is seeing all these actors on the show back then are now somewhat notable now. "Holy crap, that's so and so when they were like 12!"

Anyone else noticed this about this show? Or are those who have seen enough of it big fans as well?

I liked GG, the revival was underwhelming but nostalgic. It's entertaining enough for me to see it through to the very end, but definitely not one of the best shows I've seen. I would re-watch the series over again. I was excited for the revival and watched it all the weekend it was released.

Rory is priveleged and put on a pedestal throughout her whole life, so I kind of like that they knocked her down to earth in the revival. That's not what Rory's life was supposed to end up like. I think she lacked a backbone, so I wasn't surprised that she was always "the other woman"
Basically. That's a trend I'm noticing in the old series as I work through it. Minus Dean the first time around, she keeps making herself "the other woman."

Both she and her mother are sorry excuses of women when it comes to dating and men. It's rather discouraging that it had such a following when you have such shitty examples and the show tries to portray them as "whimsical."

The plots are kinda weak too. Two to three episodes and wham people are engaged and shit? Or you watch a diner scene and they order food and it's out in less than 2 minutes? It's dumb, trivial stuff, but combine that with some of the other things and it's like good god, why was this show on for so long and how was it so popular? :/

But like I said, I have found much amusement in "spot the celeb." Seth McFarlane was a college student in one episode, you've got the dude from Heroes, Jared Padecki who went on do to Supernatural, that dude from New Girl was in an episode I watched tonight, dude who played in The OC, etc.

I had the same amusement when I rewatched X-Files. Ryan Reynolds, Shia Lebouf, Seth Green, etc.

Oh and I would like to see more episodes made, given the end.
I doubt there will be. Apparently the creator agreed to the revival so she could give it the ending she really wanted for the series.

I never liked Gilmore Girls either. Waaaayyy too much dialogue and not enough acting. It makes my mouth feel dry even watching it. I do love a good girly show though! Gilmore Girls is just so boring!!!!

"Pseudo intellectual" comes to mind.

There are intelligent teens out there, but all the adult humor that almost all the teens on the show had was really unbelievable. Most teenagers don't think or talk like that. To be so snappy and roll with the adults like they did just makes me lol.

It's why I liken it to some Mary Sue status bs like Twilight or Fifty Shades.

Shaped a generation?

Hmm we see the fallout right here on dxp. lol

I've never seen the show and based on what

you've said, I haven't missed anything.

Appreciate the analysis though.

Right down to the unrealistic restaurant service.

Not sure about shaping a generation, but lol @ the DXP reference haha.

It wouldn't matter or not if I'd have worked in the industry or not to notice that stuff. I see it in all sorts of bits of the episodes. The time frames for most stuff is really skewed and lala land.

Overall, I don't think much of is well written.
