I'm emotionally balanced, that's why I show affection during sex 😄
I just don't need lots of hugs and hand holding stuff. I like that I'm this way. Having affection being a problem in a relationship is not an issue for me, which makes me able to get along with guys that show it and guys that don't. I never complain about affection, but will complain about sex. I just need the physical act of sex.

I think pure affection is more a male thing. IME women aren't really fond of affection, those who say it are probably thinking about sthg else, like attention gestures or sthg.
For example I've never seen women who liked to cuddle. Not just talking about my own experience, but also observing others.

But most men and women don't even know themselves.

Now about the concept of "sex" vs "making love". I think the two are not necessarily different.
For me doing slow sex while fooling each other with love promises is just another kink. Don't take it for anything else.

Maybe it depends on age. The older you are the less capable you become. Also, there are some people out there who never enjoyed sex at all for health or other reasons.

I’ve never felt shameful about sex but it can be uncomfortable. When I was younger I tended to push myself past my boundaries to prove I was okay and often ended up not.
Still have automatic reactions sometimes where I think sex is the only reason men are interested in staying with me.
I’ve never felt the need to run out and have a lot of sex either because of my past I think. I always had to feel okay with them first. The amount of time that took varies but once I was in that relationship and wanted to try it out I always felt internal pressure.

Affection always was just as if not more important than sex to a human's functioning. Babies need affection from parents every single day to survive. You only need to have sex once to make the baby.
Good sex includes affection. We get affection from family, friends, pets, not just sexual partners.

I’ve never felt the need to run out and have a lot of sex either because of my past I think. I always had to feel okay with them first. The amount of time that took varies but once I was in that relationship and wanted to try it out I always felt internal pressure.

I think pure affection is more a male thing. IME women aren't really fond of affection, those who say it are probably thinking about sthg else, like attention gestures or sthg.
For example I've never seen women who liked to cuddle. Not just talking about my own experience, but also observing others.

But most men and women don't even know themselves.

choosing affection/emotional attachment partly means:

the problem i’ve seen from a man’s pov is men (at least in the generation before mine) then get too comfortable living that fantasy.

I'm assuming that "affection" also includes verbal affection and acts of service (basically, the feeling of knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are loved). Do you just mean cuddling? If it's just cuddling vs. sex I'm less sure, but I'd still probably choose cuddling just in case my sexy stops working some day.
