some studies/statistics show that something similar to the aaw/aam is going on with asian men and women
more asian women are dating outside of their communities, usually white men
and the asian men are not dating ir as much....so, some feel left out
this is another growing tension...it seems

HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAA...the ones I knew were so cute and unassuming. It's like they were oblivious to any girl who had a crush. LOL.
So what's going on Nek? You work with one that you have your eye on or something?
Oh no. I WISH!! The guy I'm stalk-- er crushing on is a sweet Brit. *le sigh* I'll update THAT saga when the time comes though. 🙂
Last time I saw a gathering of handsome Jewish fellows, I was in the NYC diamond district. No offense-- true story.
I was half breaking my own neck trying to see as many guys as I could. Hahah!!
e-stalking? That's some new shit? Wow, we women are so inventive at coming up with new ways to keep tabs on potential love interests....hmmm....gotta try that shit someday.
NYC Diamond District eh? *makes mental note to take my ass a trip to NYC DD* LOL!!!!
LOL, it's not e-stalking at all. She tried to play off "stalking" and then labeled it "crushing", lmfao.
It's not stalking in my opinion though, it's def. some serious interest
She needs to stop downplaying it *eyeroll*
So it's more than what she says eh? Nek, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk...what are you waiting for, girl! Go get him! Awww...wait, don't tell me it's like your situation C? The dude has a girlfriend?click to expand

how are black women portrayed in the media as being the least desirable? please provide a CURRENT example. i've only seen very beautiful black women in the media. if you look at the current reality shows...most are of idiotic, unintelligent white women or we could talk about the jersey shore.
for the most part, black women are portrayed as very beautiful, artistic, intelligent and articulate people. If you go back 10 years...yeah. But with the marketing power of the african american community, I believe things have changed significantly.

I don't think it's more-- I'm trying to stay level. And I'm ok with being a friend. He's just that awesome. 🙂
And HAHAHHA!! Yes of course he has a girlfriend. They always have girlfriends. The similarities betwixt Clc and myself live on. Hahahh!!
But really I do adore the guy and I think he feels the same, but he doesn't want to make a move and risk rejection. On the other end, I respect his relationship WAY more than to just pounce at him or to risk losing him as a friend.click to expand

Too many typos, let me try that again:

I loved an african guy for a long time (I am white), but he didn't like white people or white women and told me so many times. I felt so crushed by this and chased him for a long time, because I couldn't understand why he didn't love me for what I am like inside and was so superficial. It's kind of terribly sad, but even now I feel like if I was only black, he would have loved me. I don't blame him, it's his upbringing and culture, but I still wish for the sake of that relationship that I had been black for him to feel I was someone he could be with.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I am crying thinking about it.
***************
It's not his upbringing, it's not his culture and it's not your skin colour. The skin colour ONLY serves as a gateway to who someone who judges and generalizes may feel you are like on the inside. He does not like white people because of how he feels some of them are ON THE INSIDE of theirselves. He can't love you for who you are on the inside b/c it's the very insides of white folk that he don't like and, he cees you as being like them.
Ever hear black dudes refer to their white male friend as *his N word*, *BillieBob is my N word*?? That's because though BillieBob may be as white as snow on the OUTSIDE, he comes across to the brothas as being like a black man on the inside of himself and, because it's what's inside that counts, his skin colour is disregarded and to the black dudes who welcome him in that way, BillieBob is a black dude a/k/a their *my N word*.
Same thing with black women -- ever hear them tell a white female friend who *thinks and acts like a black woman* your skin may be white but YOU ARE A BLACK WOMAN, and from there on out as far as they're concerned, she's their [white-skinned] Black friend.
How about this -- ask the African man what is it he don't like about white people and you will have your answer, rather than your just making up what sounds good to you and them calling THAT *his reasons.*

I am going to go out on a limb and say......
It's impossible for a kenyan to hate white people.
It's completely possible for a kenyan to hate westerners/americans.
....and I'm completely serious about that statement.
Posted by caribbeangoldPosted by PiscesLeoAquarius
I couldn't agree with this more, cause he talks a lot about western influence in Africa (a lot) and particularly Americans and when he went to America he felt people were racist towards him. You are very right.
mmm...beyond skin color.
there are caribbeans who cant stand americans...is it because of skin color, culture? not really....
add us gov-backed dictators...economic policies that have been detrimental to the economy of caribbean countries, the imf...
loud americans with self-entitlement issues when traveling in our countries...
us foreign policy....arghh...
now, we can talk...

Posted by caribbeangoldPosted by ellessque
it isn't racism. racism doesn't exist in a lot of african countries.
it's plain old fashioned discrimination.
their may be racism amongst races in the caribbean but I still would not go so far as to call it racism like we know it to be in the states.
there has to be a different word for it.
yep...it is different.
and when it comes to ir dating...it is so the norm...we just tend to blend, esp. in the spanish speaking caribbean...
it is more like one culture and integration is norm too
unlike in the us, where the black kids are sitting with the black kids...asian sit with asians..and so on
we all sit together and see each other as being part of a circle...click to expand

I actually don't want everyone to mix (though I am comprised of mixed ethnicities myself). How boring if everyone were this neutral, dark beige-ish color. I like things the way they are. Lots of mixing going on but still have plenty of "one race" types too.

And I always find that interesting. Carribeans who can't stand Americans but will give anything to come and live in America. I have found many carribeans to have an "I am better than you attitude". They act as if they're above Americans and like their shit don't stink and it makes me laugh. My feeling is if you can't stand Americans so much, then stay in your own country.
lol you sure went on a tangent...
many people hate the usa because the usa has become the bully country on the rest of the world....when it comes to politics...
now, you are just arguing straw man nonsense....and taking the typical defensive stance that many americans do when their dirty laundry is thrown at them
because they cant handle that...they want to be perfect and all mighty...america is great after all...
wonder where you think the americans who cant stand the us govt should go...
and all of the americans and europeans living in africa, asia and latin america...?
but it is ok
i know what bit you 🙂
you just proved my point. thanks.click to expand

My immediate family is a hodge podge of interracial dating (including myself). My brother is married to a white woman who is german, my cousin's boyfriend is white, my uncle was married to a white woman, but his current longterm gf is white and she has two adopted daughters from africa. So for me, interracial dating has never been something frowned upon in my family, which is really great for me. I've dated within my race, but I've mostly dated outside of my race. It's never been anything I've thought twice about, it just sort of happens. I used to not care for blonde men either (I was just never too attracted to blondes in general, men and women), but after dating a couple, I do like them now.
Funny enough, with the leo I went on a date with last night, he is the first red head I've been on a date with lol.

there's just so many black African American/British Virgos it's crazy. I just don't get it?
VirgoVixxen are you black?
Posted by caribbeangoldPosted by VirgoVixxxen
I can understand you thinking that I'm taking a defensive stance but now you seem a bit offended. If not, fine. It actually really does annoy me when people come here from other countries who can't stand Americans and I can't help but wondering if that is the case then why not just stay where you are and it doesn't always have to do with the idea that the usa has become the bullying country of the rest of the world. I'm not saying that people don't have a right to come but, if it's for opportunity, then I understand.
my initial post... had nothing to do with caribbeans and americans in terms of nationality or race or who is better (as you implied)...i used them as an example...
i could have used europeans, asians, africans..., and people from all of these places come to the usa too and for different reasons...
it is not an ethnic/racial thing but an issue that many people outside of the usa share...because of politics
you were the one who went on a tangent and got stuck with the ethnic/race/nationality labels instead of thinking broader...
politics...us foreign policy...again
regardless...it is a free country, correct? freedom of speech.
and i laugh when people get defensive about this when it is a known fact...unless it does bother people and i wonder why....
even an american who tries to show the flaws of us foreign policy gets shut down and accused of not being a true american or unpatriotic...bizarre...
you saying if you dont like it then go back
reminds of whites saying to african-americans if you dont like it...get out of the country...and go to x
and true, slaves were brought here...but still it is a similar stance
just saying...

n the us, race is a cultural determinant, it is the main thing about you..
and, there is no unity among you..
This is false. Race in the United States is a social construct that at times has been detrimentally used as a soci0-economic means of determinant....though it hasn't always worked efficiently, it has at time been portrayed in the media as either very very effective or at least effective enough to exacerbate the stereotypes the media itself plays into and feeds upon and FEEDS to the United States public. Your public notwithstanding...in the Caribbean...since many other media outlets in other countries do most certainly take cues from "American Media"...hence...others in different countries playing blues music....*rolls eyes...I hope you can keep up with this...because I'm STILL calling you on your BULLSHEED when I intially stopped. Idk..something about that cancer-rising mess you stated and that you think I didn't use any logic when I saw through you GENERALIZATIONS....
Posted by 25thDecanPosted by CancerMoonPosted by 25thDecan
And, please...leave that little ad hominem argument of "well she said she felt that way when she went"...I mentioned what happened with Bridgitte Bardot...which isn't an isolated incident...IN EUROPE. Did you care to elaborate? No...your head is in your arse.
Brigitte Bardot is not represantative of the great people of France. And yes, there are racists and other idiots in Europe too. They are everywhere in the world and they'll never really disappear. But it's an opinion and that's democracy for you. One has to live with that.
East Germany isn't a paradise either. I'm scared to death in Leipzig or Dresden and would never walk down the street there alone. That may be a little over the top but I'd rather be overcautious than dead.
Did you read the rest of what I wrote? If not, I take it you didn't get my point either...because now after reading the REST of this thread it appears....no one did. No biggie...I KNOW wtf I meant to say and said it. And I KNOW about the generalizations that occur and still do and still will. But me having lived where I have and not overseas in no way makes me INFERIOR to ANYONE. My struggle/identity is MINE...i at least have the wherewithall to allow others to have their legitimacy as well though...even if they ARE enemies in my eye.

And I know FAIR WELL about laws of miscegenation or the "lack of", as well as the categories in Latin America varying from DEGREE OF LIGHTER TO DARKER SKIN AND ETHNICITY....why it is assumed I know nothing because "i've only lived here" is beyond me....sorry, just HAD to let some folks know.
And by the way Beyonce's grandmother wasn't "white". She was a creole of color in South Louisiana. Don't fawcking THINK you're going to lecture me on that...because THAT is also the closest culture I grew up in seeing as I have 2 creole ancestors and cajun ancestry. BONA FAWCKING FIDE. And the fact is Europe is more relaxed in terms of ir dating. We did not say that racism does not exist because racism exists everywhere but there is just a different attitude that they have about race mixing in Europe. Period. They are not all hung-up on it the way that we are in America. What is it about this that you don't get Decan? And traveling (and this is for anyone in general) will help to give you the facts on alot of things. Why put up such the fight when we tell you that we've been there to witness and experience it for ourselves. Really, what gives?

We are going to head off to the caribbean first. First stop Jamaica (my all time fav), then the Bahamas. I've always been curious about the beef between the two.
Then we will jet off to Sierra Leone, because I've always wanted to go there....then hop over to Kenya so I can walk him thru Kibera and then drive down to Mombasa to see the tusks....trek over to Tanzania so we can see the most beautiful mountain in the WORLD...then fly over to Australia and visit TOC.
of course, on the way back we will have to stop in japan and then jump over to scotland to visit MissP and then off to the UK to experience the underground and have a beer with bling and Mr. Tate and perhaps we'll invite AA.....ooops, let's not forget the tourist trap picture in france under the eiffel tower to top off the whole trip.
I hope you've got your passport ready 😄

I don't think it's so blatant anymore, but in general, generalizations are far more covert now than they are overt. Just because we can't really see it may not mean that it's not there. But it's more so that black women in general have internalized these stigmas over time and project it over other women, IMO. Like, take Beyonce. I'll throw out an example, it's more so among black culture than you see in media (and in my generation).
Darker-skinned black women and light-skinned black women. There have been derogatory things being said about both, and in some aspects of hip hop culture, they are actually pinned against it each other.
I'll just leave this here:
