Emotional Manipulation?

Understanding Emotional Manipulation in Breakups

Emotional manipulation involves using guilt, blame, or shame to control or influence someone. In this case, your ex is trying to make you feel guilty to regain control or get you to return. Recognizing these tactics helps you stay emotionally protected and clear about your boundaries.

I dated a guy we broke up because he fucked me over. I told him I wasnt going to talk to him or see him again. Three months later he still hasn't let go. He always texts me first or calls but one night a girl texted me from his phone. I politely asked him if he had a girlfriend why didn't he say so and it's like he flipped a lid. That whole " nice guy wanting to talk and get closure" went out the window. he texted me mean things and here is where the manipulation comes in... he says I did him dirty and fucked him over. that Im a "dog" and will never find or get real love and that I will never find anyone like him (lol). Then he puts the laughing emojies and says bye. ( true story this happened yesterday) It was the craziest things.

Now I know I didnt fuck him over and he was the one who cheated and got caught and he was the one who hurt me. SO I KNOW he knows that deep down so whats with the trying to make me feel bad crap— It's seriously crazy.

What is the desired result or the point of this?? He was trying to guilt trip me and make me feel bad and come back to him?? lol.

I don't know if thats what I would call emotional manipulation. Isn't that more crying to make someone feel bad so they won't leave you. I would say he just lashed out when he knew the jig was up.

you planned not to talk to him, so why to respond when he texted-called first?

He has tried to contact me the last three months all of which have been ignored. I was taking advice from a fellow cancer friend that I should just give him closure talk about everything since he insisted we talk and then thats it . so the time I did respond this is what happened.

Why does he think you fucked him over?

because I found out about another female . When I called him out on it I told him I wouldnt be talking to him anymore because up until I found out he was acting funny treating me different and I still tried to work it out. I even asked him if there was someone and he lied and said no so when I officially found out with evidence I told him I was leaving. I don't participate in three way situations I feel like that is very unfair to me. So I stopped talking to him.

Have you told him firmly to not contact you?

When it first went down 3 months agi and I found out yes I told him not to contact me. then when this happened yesterday I replied very calmly and told him I wish him the best but that he needed to grow up and own up to his mistakes and I told him not to contact me. but something tells me he still will.

You said a girl texted him from his phone. I'm pretty sure he texted you all that to show her because she was probably feeling insecure about who you were. He wanted to "prove" to her you didn't mean anything to him.

Actually that would make plenty of sense. It's still immature though. He didn't have to text me or call me in the first place.

He just wants to get your attention and then take it away from you so YOU feel bad and so you will need him. He's also trying to make you jealous.

He's a loser who got caught. Don't entertain him.

I cant. I have already unfriended and blocked him from social media but there is no way for me to block his texts .

I don't understand why he flipped about you knowing he has a new GF?

it doesn't make sense since you guys weren't together anyway, but yeah he is trying to project his faults onto you.

It's kind of a nonsense manipulation, haha.

Next time don't reply. Even if he tries to hoover you by apologizing, or showing interest in you again.

Cut ties. Block him.

Whenever you feel like you miss him, just look at his lame text with the smiley faces again. That should do.

If he's trying to goad you into an argument, the best way to win it is to not respond. Being ghosted is possibly most infuriating thing someone can do, so I wholehearted recommend weaponizeing that shit! 😄

OMG thankyou!!!! This is very informative!

This is the most obvious solution, if it turns out he is gaslighting you.
