What Yodi said - I sometimes flirt almost accidentally if it's natural with someone and then when I realize that they are flirting back I panic and try to be more careful with them in the future.

When I really like someone but don't know where I stand my flirting usually consists of awkward self-deprecating humor and innuendo, followed by hiding in my shell out of extreme embarrassment.

That's when they actually like you. Like how a couple of others already pointed out, Cancers do flirt, but are typically being playful and humorous when they do and not taking things too seriously.

Some, like myself are actually still indirect when being direct, and will flirt to test the waters.
