I’m undecided whether this is a step I should pursue. Speaking to a lawyer tomorrow for more advice.
I know something like 80% of restraining orders are violated and the violation is typically a more serious offense. The last thing I want to do is escalate the situation and bring bodily harm into the equation.
Atm I am dealing with more of a nuisance/trespassing/property tampering and damage. We have filed incident reports but declined pressing charges or involving police any further in the matter. Again, not looking to escalate the situation...
I filed one once and then I dropped it later to come to realize that it was a mistake to drop it
Now he has a 10yr restraining order to stay away from me
Follow your gut

I was thinking a cease and desist letter would be the next step.
Was yours a domestic case? Cause this is a stranger, it’s not like they live with me. Thank fuck for that!

Yes mine was.
Well my advice is if you feel that you need them away then submit one 🙂

Why would a stranger get in your business? Neighbor?
Why would a stranger get in your business? Neighbor?
Yes, exactly. Bizarre af. The only other interaction we had with them before this incident was they had asked us not to park in a specific section of the public street a few weeks ago. Which is wild... because its public property. But we agreed and haven't parked there.
Neighbors idk I’d rather have a track record on file so if the do something else.are just bullying

It’s a karen
Civil restraining orders can be sometimes difficult to obtain against people that you have had no prior romantic relationship with. Sounds stupid, but my old boss had a ton filed against him, and seemingly got away scott free with all of them, except the ones he had criminal cases in conjunction with.
What the judge always said was there wasn't enough "proof" just he said, she said and a few pictures.
If you haven't already, set up cameras that record around your property. Also notate every occurrence that your neighbor does something to you or your property. Use that information in court for the restraining order.
Often times with disturbing people, cease and desist letters may ramp up their harassment. If a mere parking of a car can provoke them into their current state, I would assume the letter would probably make it worse. Good luck.

Yes I have ample evidence. Multiple incident reports filed with police. Around 15 minutes of phone footage collected, images of our property they damaged, and of course ring footage.
The detectives I've talked to suggested going for this restraining order. But the lawyer pointed out what I already knew... that someone crazy enough to act this irrational in the first place won't have issues breaking a court order.
I am torn on what to do here. I'm way to busy with work atm and resenting the energy this is now taking from me.

I'm the Karen here lol. I've been recording everything.
I think its more of a mental illness/break that's happening with her. So while I can sympathize with that and am wary of physically involving police, I'm not prepared to lay down and take this harassment/continued nuisance... whatever you want to call it.
Good thing it's not snowing!

Or on fire! lmao
Decided on a cease and desist, but needed to know where to send it. I have an idea of where they live. But not 100% .
This neighborhood has a lot of lifers and our neighbors to the left are an older couple, lived here for decades... very sweet people. I stopped by earlier showed her the images and she confirmed their address. Said they haven't been there that long.
Which made me think, spidery senses tingling.
Looked up the address on a few rental advert sites/apps and stumbled across on older listing. So looks like they are renters. I am now gonna contact the landlord and deal directly with them instead of the crazy. Hopefully they are reasonable people and nip this in the bud on their end.
Already feeling so much better!
