The unnecessary weight people put into certain words is actually an important part of the problem, some words have just lost their official meaning altogether simply cause people will misuse them. If we keep using certain words to remind ourselves that racism exists, then it only perpetuates the issue making it seem bigger than it actually is.
Shutup racist albino Neanderthal!

You don't get too go around calling black ppl monkeys and hiding behind taking things too seriously, and who are you to minimize racism? Weak azz. Trying to tell people how to feel ior think. Intellectually slow, for a PhD you're dumb

Get off my dick, monkey.

How come you've been so absent lately? Too busy 'helping' in the Milwaukee riots?

Actually, I went that Sunday to help with the cleanup and there were so many people doing the same, there wasn't much left to do. Really glad I went. Great discussions were had.

In terms of the OP...I think if the reports of black folks wondering where BLM is in regards to helping out flood victims are true, I think it IS a legitimate question to ask if you're trying to discern perception vs reality vs expectations and you just don't have enough information one way or another. But it's also important to be aware of the context in which your asking and be respectful of how you're asking. Ixion would be more than happy to have a civil discussion about it if the intentions are sound.

The Miscellaneous Forum on DXP is not an appropriate place though.

It's a place for Fisk's bikini pics, circle jerks, and butt secks threads.

Heck, the president is vacationing in Martha's Vineyard.

Why do people have a problem with the president having a life outside his office? What's he suppose to do exactly? There are established emergency procedures in case of war, natural disasters, national tragedies, etc. and I'm sure none of them involve the president personally getting to da choppa'.

Ha. No. I live in Milwaukee and was referring to the comment about the recent riots. Was trying to get out some good PR for the city. 😄

But I was born in and have lived off and on in MS. Katrina was still a Category 2, I believe, when it went over my house. If there hadn't been so much to do at home, I'd have gladly helped out our neighbor. Between the awesome city of New Orleans, river gambling and drive through daquiri stands, she's done a lot for me over the years.

that's cool - yes I understand it's a whole nuther world down there - always wanted to visit but haven't made it yet ...

I think the main issue that people have is the hypocrisy. Obama made a huge issue about Bush only flying over the damage from Kayrina rather than getting out on the ground and actually speaking to the victims. Bush used the same excuse that Obama is using now. He didn't want to get in the way and disrupt the efforts. The media and dems really laid into him for that decision.

Personally, I dont know what the big deal is but I'm not in that area and I can't begin to imagine what they are going through. Maybe a presidential visit would give some hope.

Obama has a problem with it apparently.

When it's not his presidency, mind you.

Of bush he said that it was unconscionable

that he

'... only saw the people from the

window of an airplane instead of

down here on the ground."

If nothing else, the hypocrisy should tip people

off to the fact that the whole dog and pony show

is manufactured, and no one in Washington actually

gives a damn about anyone they claim to represent.
