Has BLM stepped up to help out in the floods of Southern Louisiana?

I've seen a ton of media articles and videos stating that black citizens are complaining that they haven't stepped up at all in rescue and/or aide attempts. I'm just checking to see if this is true.

Black lives are at risk there and need help, I'd be surprised to find out they haven't offered any assistance since this group stresses their message is to save and help black lives.

Just curious...

I'm hoping all these media statements are wrong. Hoping someone can provide proof that they are helping.

I agree that all lives matter, and that all kinds of people have been affected.

Nevertheless, the question is valid.

The rescue efforts during the last flood have been highlighted as a

major failure, both politically and socially, because apparently, black

lives were disproportionately affected.

The BLM should be all over this shit.

Funny how if it were mainly Caucasians involved in a natural disaster.....

You'd automatically assume the government and natural disaster relief crews would step in and handle it. Without any problems or questions.

But because it's minorities mostly damaged by this....the movement towards stopping police brutality is supposed to step up and take charge.

Delusion at it's best.

@Montgomery...first let me say I understand and respect your opinion

...Black Lives Matter (BLM) is an international[1] activist movement, originating in the African-American community, that campaigns against violence and systemic racism toward black people. ------ not floods ...fire...or natural disaster

for me ....this question is like asking "this woman was raped where is the fire department"?

there was a tornado where are the police...... don't they protect and serve? what?

I respect your opinion, as well, but I don't agree.

Asking 'Where are the police' during a natural disaster is not absurd, IMO.

I think it's a good thing that the cops are rescuing people over there... where

do you draw the line on 'protect and serve'?

For what it's worth, though, I think the Soros-funded BLM itself is contrived,

and I don't think that their priority has much to do with race... I'm not

even remotely surprised they're absent.

Heck, the president is vacationing in Martha's Vineyard.

kay...little bit confused? what does Obama have to do with black lives matter—? this is not the subject at hand ...which was blm and the flood in Louisiana ....I"m only talking about the matter at hand...but if you wanna talk about lack of presidential response in Louisiana floods ..there are OTHER presidents that did NOT respond in the most timely manner ..*cough cough george bush*

For what it's worth, though, I think the Soros-funded BLM itself is contrived,

I'm also confused on this statement mostly cause its not really true ....— soros funded Open Society Foundations (OSF), a progressive-liberal grantmaking network he founded (as the Open Society Institute) in 1993 to fund civil society groups around the world---

$ 1.5 billion on democratic development in the countries of Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union;

$ 677 million for public health issues such as HIV and AIDS, TB, palliative care, harm reduction, and patients’ rights;

$ 205 million to fight discrimination and advance the rights of Roma communities in Europe;

$ 2.6 billion to defend human rights, particularly the rights of women, ethnic, racial, and religious minorities, and often marginalized groups such as drug users, sex workers, and LGBTQ communities;

$ 2 billion for education projects ranging from preschool to higher education reform;

$ 1.4 billion to promote reform in the United States on issues such as criminal justice, drugs, palliative care, education, immigration, equal rights, and democratic governance.

some groups that OSF where ALREADY funding participate with black lives matter.....but EVEN IF SOROS...did directly fund them why would this be contrived?

Ok. Thanks for explaining.

I wonder why those folks are complaining. Maybe they misunderstand the purpose as well.

Floods and disasters are violence too, though when you get down to it.

I see Police, firemen, Christian groups, national Guard, and a variety of community groups helping out. I don't see why they can't too. Anyone who wants to help is welcome. Just because a group is organized for a different purpose doesn't mean they can't help as well.

'... but EVEN IF SOROS...did directly fund them why would this be contrived?'

This is a great question.

And let me clarify that I said the group is contrived--

not the Cause.

George Soros is behind some of the most socially

destructive movements and endeavours around the

world... he uses people and hijacks *their* causes to

bring about chaos and and basically debilitate any

sense of civility we have left.

He's dangerous, and anything with his money behind

it is suspect, in my book.

God forbid your question wasn't answered first.

But to answer your initial question, yes--

I have a huge problem with what Bush did during Katrina

And I don't think anyone expected the BLM folks to buy rowboats

and go out on search and rescue missions for which they are

unqualified-- I think people expected the same media attention

and public support/awareness for the current flood that they have

been giving to the one that's over a decade old.

That's possible.

I only asked about BLM because that's the group getting flack from their members.

When has language policing helped solve any of the problems the "language police" 'seems' so concerned about?

"Facts dont care about feelings". Fact is they are black.

The black, the African-Americans, etc, what difference does it make which words one uses to refer to that specific group we all know the OP is referring to? You dont need to look so much into things sometimes, sometimes an apple is just an apple, not necessarily apple juice.

LOLZ most of the "conspiracy theories " are proven true from the email hacks.

I don't know about BLM being there helping out. I don't pay attention to mainstream media because they manipulate you little lambs. I know that the organizers of the peaceful marches in BR and Denham Springs have organized shelters. Everyone is trying to help each other out right now.

Of course the government is making them purchase a permit before citizens can start rebuilding their destroyed homes. Still trying to steal from people while they're down. Assholes.

And you clearly believe the stupid leftist media lies that "Putin wants war" or "Putin is the bad guy", you should actually go and search interviews/press conferences with Putin, then you'll probably start to see how much logic and common sense this guy has and why he's regarded by many in the world now as one of the best world leaders. Why else do you think western media will seldom broadcast entire press conferences/interviews of Putin.

The bad guy who is secretly pushing for policies to provoke a war is in the White House and his name is Barack Obama, and the next in line for the same stupid policy is called Hillary Clinton

Actually the root of the whole "problem" of racism is giving words too much weight, and this weight is sadly given for various political/ideological agenda's that have nothing to do with a simple...colour. A colour is a colour, that is all.

Like I said, the posts I saw were of some of the blacks complaining they aren't there to help them. I saw a video about it.

I was just asking if anyone had heard that they were. Was hoping the post was just hype. No sarcasm intended.

No one has said they were, so I suppose my question is answered.

no one said they were not either ma'am

Exactly. No one knows either way. So, my question, "does anyone know" was answered by default. No one knows.

The guy in the video said they were not.

Why don't you delete the thread before it -- you know

makes waves?

I remember now why I've been off DXP for a while.
