Combing once or twice *a week* will fix.
I suppose my only concern about a GSD would be the high temperatures here. I would hate for my dog to be running around suffering. I hope combing all that excessive hair out-thereby helping keep their body temperature down is suitable...otherwise I'm forced to look at a short-hair breed. I've seen people with huskies around here and tbh, it upsets me.
Guh! I can't pick one. Huskies, Sheps, Beagles, Malamutes, Wolf breeds and Mastiffs.
I like mastiffs also. I was watching American Choppers or some show like that, and "senior" had a beautiful mastiff named "Gus."
I like those breeds but I worry about the heat here.
Yap yaps have their perks imo. They are OBVIOUSLY good about alerting the owner to any person approaching the house, any person CONSIDERING approaching the house and any person that just sneezed within a 10 block radius.
😛

Sorry, cant help you... I'm not really a dog person.I do like big dogs though... if you're gonna get a dog, do it right.
I hate fucking yap yaps
I like big dogs also, but I'm meeting *ahem* resistance on that front.
Also, we haven't talked in forever. I still want some vegi or promite 😛
I love cats. I used to have a cat named "Franky Gray Paws" and he was the coolest mofo walking this earth.
I find it strange that most people are so fixed on being a dog or cat person. I love em' both.

Haha, each their own eh?
I may like it, I may not..but I definitely want some. I intend to come to Australia when I get the chance, it would be great.
Based on all the Aussie/Kiwi friends I've had, one of the coolest cultures on this earth.

Yeah, it was a cool name...
and then everyone just called him Frank...
😢
LOL Little dogs are footballs. I want a beast with some mean in his bark around. I find them more affectionate too; little dogs have a nastier temperament.
My husky boy dug a hole under the porch to camp out when he wasn't happily residing in the cool of the house. Paddling pool too in case he wanted a nice dunk. Miss that furball. My pit mix bitch is a happy simpleton who wants nothing more than unending attention, this coming summer will be her first outside of puppy hood.
Check these out, I was surprised tbh.
Listen to this wolf's growl. It's not even threatening, it's more like a promise. Awesome stuff.

LOL YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP YAP YAP *punt*
My mothers wolf hybrid taught me to walk. She'd patiently let me pull myself up and walk slowly round with me. 🙂
*raising arms* And it's GOOOOOOOOOOOOD! HAHAHHAHA.
That's phenomenal, that wolf didn't even get a good mouth-full of that PSI tester, but 406? That would crush your arm. Amazing!
Ok, I'm done 🙂
LOL No you ain't.
True 😛
I should be a biologist, tbh.
I was hiking in Okinawa up a river with some friends and there was these single strands of spider web that spanned the better part of this 12ft wide river. A single strand spanned that distance. Well these spiders locally called "fishermen" would suspend themselves upside down smack dab in the middle of this web. They would wait in this position until bugs would fly underneath them, then drop down, grab em, and voila-lunch. The impressive part about this is, proportionally, it's akin to the golden gate bridge having NO ground support...but only suspended. Simply amazing imo. The natural world leaves me in awe unyielding.

That's cool. I always thought those fish that spit at bugs on limbs and twigs for their dinner, archer fish! Praying mantis, trapdoor spiders, mehhhh. I'd write a book. Nature is just slicker than snot on a doorknob. 😛
Awwww, that bulldog!
Funniest video ever! Had me rollin'
I have a sneaking suspicion the commentator enjoys men. LOL
Shiba Inus...where it's at.
They're not little yappers...but they're not big either.
They have the cutest little faces...low maintenance, their hair is short and thick...they're kind of catlike, clean, independent, etc. They don't smell like most short-haired dogs. They make super cute noises. They're highly intelligent.
Only downfall is their kill drive. They try to kill everything that moves...and go deaf when they're on to something.
Oh, and same-sex dog aggression is common.
(We socialized ours from the day we got her...and she still started getting aggressive at one point. We used to take her to the puppy park like 3 times a week...then one time, out of nowhere, we took her and she was straight actin a fool, nipping at other dogs trying to fight.)

Lol that's me and my Virgo friend's favorite video. We quote it all day, seriously
Look at him dig!
Nasty fuck.
English Cocker Spaniels are the superior dog breed. js
I have two yap yap dogs...I feel bad when people ring the door bell.
pitbull chewing a thistle
bulldog chewing a nettle
jack russell chewing on anything
my actual fave would be ....either a rottie or a scottish deerhound I think
the ghey shaving I think

Don't worry about shepherds in the heat - have had quite a few and no probs at all.
The black and tans seemed to develop more of that winter insulation fluff (particularly as they get older) but you can sort that out with a brush.
Had a jet black one and he never fluffed up at all.

Haha. That and being emasculated over the years, poor little mites.
The little waistcoat thingies don't help much either, methinks.
the football guernseys look neat in the winter tho

and to send out onto the ground to attack the refs when they make a bad call
I like most dog breeds. Growing up we had a black lab (he was a stray that adopted us), German Shepards, a Doberman, a Husky, a Boxer/Dalmatian mix, and what I think was a Bichon (poor guy, an Eagle got him and ripped his guts out). I don't care for little yappy dogs or dogs with a short snout (ugly looking things - sorry). As an adult had a I Schnauzer (whom I found as a stray) and now I have a Brittany (and 2 cats). I did Brittany rescue for a while (5 in my house at one time), so I'm partial to them these days.
My take: one of the most loyal, faithful, loving breeds you could get and highly intelligent. Great with kids and other pets. They really are very family oriented and are just all around people dogs. Despite often being referred to as "Spaniels", AKC removed them from the Spaniel family in 1982 due to the fact that Spaniels are flushing dogs and Britts are pointers. They are avid hunters and very birdy - you will often find them staring up into the trees looking for/watching birds. They are a sporting dog and are very active, so not suitable for an apartment. They are medium in size, typically weighing between 35-40lbs and live about 15 years.
I know, ya all probably didn't want the run down - but, if anyone is interested, the National Brittany Rescue and Adoption Network has typically over 300 dogs in rescue at any given time that need loving homes and they will transport up to 1200 miles (www.nbran.org).

Ok now there cute ah look at em but the poodles I've seen usually aren't maybe they need haircuts. I never wanna go to a poodle dog show they look like bushes.
Dog shows suck anyway..
^ Agreed.

Most dogs are cool, except rat-dogs and poodles (where did it all go wrong for the poodles ey? 🙂)
LOL omg, my friend was watching her aunt's poodle last week and it was jumping all over me and I wanted to kick it so bad.
Man I hate poodles

What is your favorite dog breed?
I've always liked German Shepherds and Rottweilers. I've been considering getting a dog here soon and I think I've settled on a German Shepherd. They are all around good dogs, really can't complain about em' except for perhaps the shedding which combing once or twice will fix. I'm also inclined towards a rottweiler but haven't made up my mind yet.
Overall,
I think A GSD will suit me for the purposes of home defense/family friendliness, protectiveness, intelligence and a buddy I can take along hunting/fishing.
Your turn!
