I don't know how this "practice" came to be. but to me, it shows how much power women have over men.

I don't blame anything for this. Detach from that and look at the way things developed. We only just recently foisted upon the genome project and learned about DNA tests and such… Everyone knows what peni-vagine sex can result in and for the longest virginity was the only way to know for sure if kids were yours, while women never had the problem of not knowing if a kid is theirs.

We're just seeing the remnants of that. Those cultures also probably do not want shows like Maury to be something seen as normal in their societies.

Pretty sure we don't have a loop hole. Not supposed to become intimate like that until marriage. It's really about men and women saving themselves for their future Spouse to share the ultimate intimate bond with. It makes a lot of sense, However not with how society is.

It's not even guaranteed that your hymen will tear the first time. A woman could keep her hymen together before marriage if she knows what she's doing. Well.. All hymens are diff I guess. But most.

I had that same argument in my mind as well, because I like to have things clear cut and if I choose to be a virgin, the meaning of it is the same as how you define it.

But, I've come to the conclusion that these women don't necessarily mean to use the word "virgin". They are simply living in an extreme environment where men are THE LAW. And the law says that as a single young woman, you life will be of value only if your hymen is intact (so that you could marry and produce children). If the hymen is broken, you can be disowned, murdered or ostracized.

These women want to have the experience without having to have their whole lives ruined. The men that they do it with, are apparently accepting of this rule. So, it's a rule that makes both parties happy.

It sucks that they all have to be so fake about it though. Laws that make no sense make humans do the unthinkable sometimes.
