Been so caught up in our bathroom addition both time and money wise that I haven't been able to do much in my garden. Plus half of the yard is gonna be dug up for the septic connection next month and then later on the pool so its kinda pointless to do much there. I ended up planting my 'experimental' garden in these existing raised beds that later on we plan to demo. I do have some jalapenos and tomatoes poppin off and the garlic and onions coming in. Most of my strawberries and beans have been stolen by the squirrels. Also experimenting with growing potatoes cause why not.

I got a dwarf avocado and Persian mulberry tree I'll be planting this weekend. Should've started with trees this year as the foundation of the garden. I also want to add pears and apples and some potted citrus. All in good time.

In the dogs garden/dog run I have purple basil, fennel, dill, and some strawberries for them to munch on. I do plan to plant a camellia and dwarf roses in the future. All things they can eat and are non toxic to the fur babies. I swear they live a better life than me lol.

My ultimate goal life goal is to have my own giant property out in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of animals, raising my own crops and livestock and just chillin. I'm far from this goal right now. In order to do this I need to stay sober and stop pissing away the money I start to save up. Keep working and take one step at a time, ez does it

I’m in Texas so I often see your goal out in the endless acres of open land out here. I always wonder how they track all the cattle in this new age from anyone kidnapping them. I’m convinced there’s gotta be something like an Apple AirTag on them with app tracking.

How do you easily waste the money you save? I have a separate bank to save my money in a savings account and another bank account with a checking account with very limited funds so that psychology I feel bad about spending much.

Omg I am so envious of people who have the patience and discipline to garden fruits, vegetables and herbs. And then the immense control of rage when they get eaten by squirrels and other pests… literally starting to believe the closest to saints or psychopaths get into this stuff 🤔

lol a bit of a masochistic kink in watching the criters eat my food. Its all good tho, at least its feeding something, circle of life and all that. I work from home 90% of the time so it makes it easy to stay on top of the garden. Plus I subscribe to the permaculture method aka lazy way of gardening.

Weirdly I am super into composting now. I got 3 different methods going, solar digestion, worm farm, and cold composting. Solar digester gets fed like a 33/33/33 split between leaves, dog poo, and kitchen scraps. Worm farm is strictly kitchen scraps and some leaves, and cold composting is strictly brown waste aka leaves and clippings from the garden and shredded papers.

Its still all an experiment but as we got rid of our trash service the goal is to turn most of the waste into black gold to reuse in the garden or just feed the soil in place with the solar digester.

We're building a new house in a new estate in March. Just waiting for the land title to come through by December. I'm really looking forward to this. We already selected the materials with our builder.

Saving up for a Tesla or maybe another hybrid car.

Also... Getting a promotion/salary increase next year (hopefully)

And I'm hoping to buy my first Moynat/Valextra bag next year. Its really my dream to own these bags and I waited the last 3 years to buy them. So I hope I can get them next year.

I don’t have any hopes or dreams. Maybe retiring in few years

That can’t be true! You must desire or hope for something? What will you do after you retire?

I feel like I’ve done it all already. I’ve traveled some, I’ve accomplished my previous goal n security. I’ve been married had a picket fence home

So those things are not important to me anymore

I used to have a bucket list n have been fortunate to accomplish many but I realize you get the high for a bit then your back to square one.

My mom is in Arizona and has some land and lots of animals. They want to grow their own crops too but I'm not sure where they are with that yet. She's always grown stuff, but not on a huge, nearly self-sufficient level yet. I would love to eventually get virtually all of my food from my own land. She has goats, sheep, chickens, giant shepherd dogs to protect the animals from coyotes and whatever else, guns to protect from bigger animals and people lol. I'm going to be talking to her about all of this stuff with her when I go out there

I'd waste my money because I would drink it away and spend it on God knows what else. This would happen when I was going through some bad things mentally amd didn't care anymore. But I'm done with all that. I'm usually pretty good with my money besides that though. I do occasionally splurge on things and go have fun, but not all the time

In a world full of GMO, while I would love to have my own farmland and be able to source and cultivate all my meat and produce, I just can’t be behind all the nitty gritty of it… too much of a city girl 🫠 Maybe hire someone to do it all for me some day!

I don't either

I could imagine something but I may as well say "I want to own a spaceship and fly to the moon," that would be how much faith I would have in them becoming reality

Anything specific at all? I like hearing a wide range from different age groups.

My true dream is to live and work in Korea teaching kindergartners English, open up my own cafe there, while being able to make music and art. Become fluent in Korean. Maybe save and help some dogs and other animals along the way.

Don’t know how much I will achieve. But right now Im going to college and studying Korean. I may transfer to a university next year and major in Korean culture and language, minor in English. I hope I will get into the college I want

Refrain from doubting yourself on how much you’ll achieve and also refrain from hoping. You’ve got the recipe down in terms of doing the steps to get there, all that’s left is blindly believing in yourself and having unwavering confidence you’ll get it!

I can see how as one gets older they become immune to instant gratification and all but it still sounds a little depressing?! So what will you do with your time after retiring? Something must have to occupy it?

I'm just trying to get back on the path I was on back in the summer of 2020. Seems like every time I get control of myself I go right back to the worst place possible. So I'm keeping it basic. I'm not going to make a bunch of goals and plains that just bring me down further if I lose control. I'm just focusing on keeping control, and hoping I can say things are even 5% better on this exact day next year.

I no longer have any hopes and dreams. I’ve learned it’s hopeless to hope and dream. I was very naive when I had hopes and dreams. They have since died. I now just live to die.

You got ancient people like Warren Buffet with billions still looking for ways to live life, make some kind of difference when he clearly could be doing nothing. I refuse to believe things get so bleak as you get older… seems so self-defeating. Idk but I’m seeing a trend on this thread with particularly Scorpio women with this similar viewpoint 🤨

Wake up walk my dog, pay my bills, meet up with friends, a trip here and there. That’s what life is. I already did the wanderlust thing. each achievement just levels off back to square one. You get a high for a few days than it just goes back to the norm.

Buy land, build a home.

But also I'd like to build a separate area for backpackers, I host people quite regularly and I'd like a bigger area to host multiple people.

I don't want to have it as a full time business yet, because I have a job that I love and don't intend on leaving. But maybe in the future when I'm sick of 9-5, I can open full time as a backpackers hostel. That would be the dream.

That sounds really good👍

What work do you do?

What are YOUR hopes and dreams @SassyKiwi ?

Oh heh, thanks for asking. I’m kinda shy talking about this because I’m very reserved and don’t even share it with anyone in real life. I have so many short term and long term. Short term I’m working on helping my parents get their dream home, also get my own dream home with my hubs. Before I got married I’ve always wanted to travel as many countries as possible solo or not and do an RV trip around as many states as possible. But after I got married I discovered I enjoy traveling with my husband more so I want to travel as much as possible with him but specifically international luxury travel! I also always wanted to have a lot of kids and have this crazy idea that kids eventually raise themselves so we’ll see how that works out lol… long term, eventually when I’m older and feel like I have nothing left to offer this world or something, idk if I will be tired of hoping or dreaming then like some on this thread (I hope never), I hope to be able to get involved in helping women who have been victims of abuse particularly in underserved communities. I’ve always felt strongly about this but was always scared about volunteering directly to the victims as I wouldn’t even know how to talk to them, like I wouldn’t ever want to say or do the wrong things, I’m just awkward that way.. It took some time to realize I can also do so many things indirectly like financial assistance as well as help set up networks of accessing professionals more conveniently, etc. I didn’t realize it’d get so lengthy but I also enjoy reading other peoples’ stories.

Lol don't be impressed, I am making it up as I go along. Calling everything an experiment so when things inevitably fail it smarts less.
