I keep things quite tidy and clean at all times, so there is rarely any kind of big cleaning project to do. And I'm a clean as I go person with things like cooking.

But sometimes I will do a major reorganization of a closet, and to tackle that I set aside a lot of time so I can start and finish on the same day or evening, if possible. I just grit my teeth during the chaos phase when things look like hell before I reassemble everything into it's new more efficient order.

I did house sitting for a somewhat messy family and to tackle the cleaning, I chose a room a day to work on. Bathrooms and kitchens usually are the dirtiest so getting them out of the way first is usually best.

@Soul I tend to strategize. lol. Then go from there.

@themagnetoreborn My place is usually clean. I've been major slacking the past 2 weeks. I walked in my house and almost turned around and locked the door because I didn't recognize this mf lmao.

@Impulsv this might be my next step. My boutique is picking up because of the warmer months and I do party decorating on the weekend. Plus, my 10 month old does major damage.

@LadyNeptune I'm usually good at that. With my high stress, I barely want to be here, tbh. I'll scurry up something for my son and I and walk out.

@CopperDove The most I'll let go is folding clothes. That's it. It seems like I have it together in all arenas but this home as of late. That's how I start my cleaning/reorganizing/decorating projects as well. Gotta start early so it can be done in the same day.

@NotYourAverageAquarius Me too. I remember my sister stayed with me once. OMG slob galore. She would make sandwiches and leave a butter knife full of mayo on the counter. Crumbs everywhere.

@Prince_Pisces That's a great suggestion. lol

@mzmee Cool that you tackle things similarly! Then it's done, out of the way, hooray.

During times of stress, things can get a bit messier in my office area. Chaos within showing itself externally. It's a sign to me that I need to work on the stress.

Cleaning it up helps move me out of that state - looking at order on the outside makes me calmer on the inside. Funny how that always happens. I won't feel good when I start to tidy that up - I'll dread starting - but by the end of the process I feel better. Just taking the first step is the hardest part when I'm in that state, then it has it's own rhythm once I begin and I'm just in the moment and focused and not straining.

One room at a time!! First pick up everything and put everything away. Throw laundry in washer & dryer. Dusting. Dishes. Stove spray and wipe clean with counters, wipe appliances. Mirrors. Spray restrooms wipe off. Floors mop, vacuum & fold laundry done ✅

Every other day you can catch up with deep clean such as fridge, shelves, closets, fans, ect...
When I say Ive NEEEEVVEEEERRR gone this long with house neglect.

My bathroom and kitchen was still spotless. Just the living areas needed tidying. It needed dusting really bad. Im gonna be here a few days so Ill start on the hard stuff tomorrow. Im pooped.

This described me to a T.

I promise, I cleaned away some of that stress too. The smell of green apple fabuloso does something wonderful to my nerves

I've hired a maid to come every Friday since I'll be working longer hours for the next few months. Just to do some deep cleaning (windows, mopping, dusting, tub, etc) to my pad. My house isn't messy but on the weekends I'd rather use that time to relax and do other things besides going all out on my place.

Typically, I clean the kitchen and bathrooms first, sweep and mop, then dust all the furniture (I don't have much furniture and I like it that way, simplicity), then I vacuum.

I collect ALL the cleaning items and set shit up so it's ready to go, then I start from where I'm standing and work outwards in concentric circles but pushing crap from each room as it's done to the next so it's cleared.
Washing dishes last so dust and air fresheners or air borne cleaning chemicals don't settle on them while I'm maneuvering etc 🙂
Makes sense
