In Senegal it is, my friend is from there and he always takes my shit, I literally need to check his bag when he leaves every time. Mind you he gives me whatever I want. But yeh in Senegal if you go to someone’s house and you like their couch they will give you that couch expecting that you’re going to take it anyway

I think this is done in the arab world tbh.

I wouldn't want my things to be taken away regardless of what culture I live in.

The respect and willingness to take care of my possessions has to be there.

Otherwise no.
