I've always been confused. I only use a comforter, blanket, and one pillow bc I don't like dealing with too many things

I don't get why people need 10 pillows on their beds

Like you know you kick half of them out when you're sleeping, it's just not practical

What's the difference between comforters, duvets, and coverlets? Why do beds have so many layers and why do bed sheets come with SO MANY DAMN SHEETs.

What the fuck are shams

Image Not Found

I want this set but idk what the fuck is going on

Also when I stay in a hotel I never know which layer I'm supposed to sleep between 😢 this is ruining my life

Also I just found out beds can have skirts

I feel so overwhelmed

Is complex bedding a way for women to compensate for their doll-deprived childhood ?

Pfffft 🙂

1. Fitted sheet

2. Flat sheet (tucked in at the bottom and sides... hospital corners

will be covered, later).

3. Comforter or Quilt.

4. Voila... BED

Anything else is added fluff... besides a pillow, I mean.

And that's all that is in that picture-- fluff.

Questions !!!

What are the purpose of the fitted sheets?

What are the purpose of the flat sheets?

Do you sleep on top of the flat sheets? Are those the final sheets?

What are the flat sheets being covered by? The comforter/quilt?

Where do people hide the decorative pillows before going to sleep??

Oh ... you weren't kidding.

Fitted sheet is the one with elastic around the bottom of it so it FITS over the mattress.

Then--

Flat sheet-- that is the one you cover up with... it goes under the comforter or quilt.

A BLANKET:

THEN... finally, the comforter or quilt goes on.

This should get you started. o.O

I've 8 pillows, a duvet over the mattress n a flatsheet(so that implies I use 2 layers of sheets over the mattress to sleep on)n a comforter to cover myself.N no..I don't kick any of my pillows out while sleeping. I place them all around me n I hardly move ...so yeah!!I can't sleep with atleast 3 pillows around even when I go for sleepovers..unless ofcourse someone cuddles me like I don't need any of these.Pillows make me feel safe not just warm.

@Montgomery LOL thank you that was the perfect break down

OKAY NOW FOR THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION

Where do I wiggle between to sleep in? The fitted sheet and the flat sheet or the flat sheet and the blanket??
The first thing you said-- between fitted and flat.

You're welcome. 😛

Lol can you also address the straight jacket feeling that ramparts mentioned... As if people actually sleep underneath tucked flat sheets with any comfort ?? I always thought that was just a professional hotel procedure... of awkwardness.

I don't tuck the flat sheet in up to the top.

That's why I mentioned hospital corners.

Just tuck in the bottom and leave the sides out.
Too much work for those who flail during the night.

I haven't used the flat sheet in y e a r s!!!

I instead use them as drop cloths for painting.

All you need is the fitted and comforter. It makes life simple.

UGh but don't you hate when your mattress is fatter than your fitted sheets?? That's why I've been only using flat sheets by hospital cornering them. Looks so neat and nice!

You women have too many pillows
Ikr. I need like a minimum of 3 pillows, and even that's kinda spartan. Two pillows on top of eachother for my melon and one 'emergency' pillow in case my neighbour decides to play guitar in the middle of the night, and I need something to put on top of my head. Plus it helps me sleep if the top pillow is cool.

5 pillows is ideal though. 3 used as described above and the additional two placed on each side of the head. I love burying my head into a cool pillow every time i turn. I guess I should consider just wearing a padded helmet to bed lol

That's still too many for me lol only need 1, 2 for the bed so the bed looks conventional i guess i don't know. But seeing as i can only sleep on my right side without entering sleep paralysis, oi only need 1 memory foam pillow.

Gtfo

Left side for me... I heard it's more likely to

happen if you're on your back.

I hate having to make a bed.... So I don't do it the way everyone else does. I do have a sheet, but it does over the bed which also has a 3 inch thick memory foam mattress. The bed itself also has memory foam on it, and I sleep on top of a comforter and use a soft fluffy blanket tomsleep in. I was the comforter, bla let and pillowcases on the same day.

The comforter also allows some seperation from the memory foam which would make me all hot and sweaty if I didn't use it.
