Posted by rockyroadicecreamOh - my bad, you failed to mention pet peeves when going out to eat within California. Unfortunately I don't live there so my bad for responding on this thread with my personal experience. Jfc, there are still tons of states that don't have that regulation. Self-centered Californians.Posted by SassyKiwiSweetheart, I work in a restaurant. It may be tap water where you live and the places that you go to, but the ones here don't function like that. California has regulations in place where water is given for free unless it's bottled, so "free" does not equate tap water. I've seen the filters on the lines myself.Posted by rockyroadicecreamWhatever helps you sleep at night (:Posted by SassyKiwiNo dear, it's filtered.Posted by rockyroadicecreamNo. It's tap water most places, especially if they don't charge you for the water.Posted by SassyKiwiYou do realize most places serve filtered water, right?
The water they serve you.
It's shady af.
So I always get drinks.
But what the fuck do I know? I've only been working in the industry for 10 years. I'm sure the shit you saw on 20/20 trumps that. I'm so sorry I dared question you. *cough*click to expand

Posted by Arielle83I'm not aware of tap water quality of countries outside of America, but tap water here is considered safe to drink.Posted by SassyKiwiThe last 3 countries I bartended in, all had to be filtered tap water. There are regulations to prevent customers from getting anything from a bathroom sink.Posted by rockyroadicecreamWhatever helps you sleep at night (:Posted by SassyKiwiNo dear, it's filtered.Posted by rockyroadicecreamNo. It's tap water most places, especially if they don't charge you for the water.Posted by SassyKiwiYou do realize most places serve filtered water, right?

Posted by VanillaExtIkr, I was just thinking about that for being the reason of the regulation.Posted by SassyKiwiCalifornia still has water?Posted by rockyroadicecreamOh - my bad, you failed to mention pet peeves when going out to eat within California. Posted by Arielle83I only drink filtered water. I was talking about those restaurants that serve you water free of charge. I was just stating that as my pet peeve. I'm pretty sure you can't even charge for tap water.Posted by SassyKiwiCanada, US, Australia and South Korea.Posted by Arielle83I'm not aware of tap water quality of countries outside of America, but tap water here is considered safe to drink.Posted by SassyKiwiThe last 3 countries I bartended in, all had to be filtered tap water. It's prob related to taste as well as regulations.
I mean you're dining out, why just plain tap water. Filtered is more fancy.click to expand

Posted by GetMistedMaybe if they had a normal salary, ya know...Posted by rockyroadicecreamThis annoys the fuck out of me, honestly.
Campers suck. Taking up prime real estate. I could have turned that table 3 times now and you're sitting there, socializing for that generous 10% you want to leave me. Thaaaanks.
You're more worried about turning your tables to make more money.. than you are about offering me the service I came out to get.click to expand

Posted by GetMistedFair enough lol
You took that to the extreme I would say..
I was simply saying that I've been rushed through my meal while I'm still eating it.

Posted by GennieIt's also incredibly rude to sit and camp for hours while it's busy and there's a serious wait up front. We've had people up front flipping out because their wait times are exceeding what was quoted because the table in question won't fucking leave. They've been cashed out for quite some time and they're sitting and socializing. Not only is the server getting screwed, the restaurant missing out on extra revenue, but now the other customers are suffering because someone chooses to sit there as if it's fucking Starbucks.
I don't go to restaurants to sit for 2 hours for shits and giggles. IF for some reason, like a birthday dinner or lunch, I know we are gonna be a while, I let the server know "Hey, it's so and so's celebration, we're gonna be here a bit".

Posted by GennieAlso, before some butthurt moron jumps in, we take into consideration celebrations and the like.

Posted by rockyroadicecreamWhat does any of that have to do with what I wrote? I'm not seeing the correlation. Like, for my birthday, It was Sunday Brunch time. So when my boyfriend and I got to the place, I was like, "I want a nice booth for the 2 of us, away from people, we're having a leisurely breakfast." Our server was great, kept us in coffee, she got a nice tip.Posted by GennieIt's also incredibly rude to sit and camp for hours while it's busy and there's a serious wait up front. The other night, I had a guy lie to the hosts about how his party was almost there and that he wanted to be seated. Party of four with one person there. We normally make them wait til more people have shown up. I get to him and he tells me it'll be awhile that he's waiting on his friends. This is one of two booths in my section, which is prime real estate. ...great. I didn't learn about his lying until I asked the hosts why they sat him if he's the only one.
I think it took them an hour to show up. They went all out, ordered drinks, appetizers, dessert, all that. They generally were chatty and joked around, so dinner went without a hitch. But based on their lack of consideration, they didn't disappoint when they split the bill and left me a whopping 3-4% tip on the tab. Two dollars each and the entire bill was something like 130.
Grand total of their time at the table- about 3 hours- a majority of dinner rush. I could have turned that table at least 3 times and made WAY more than the generous 4 dollar tip they left me after their major inconsideration to everyone around them on a busy Friday night with an hour plus wait.
People are just fanfuckingtastic haha.click to expand
