Selfies are getting out of hand.

Seriously though, do people realize how fucking stupid they look when they do this?
It's sad that deaths by selfies have exceeded those caused by shark attacks, which are over sensationalized to begin with. ...taking your picture is becoming riskier than swimming in the ocean and being attacked by a shark.
There will be no apocalypse. We're just going to take ourselves out. If not for "who has the bigger dick" contest with nuclear missiles, it'll be for sheer stupidity.
They are getting out of hand. My sister in law's uncle who thinks selfie is short form for something goes, "Yeah, people are taking selfies while driving. They're becoming increasingly selfish. Is that where the word selfie comes from?" LMAO. He was genuinely inquiring. Even though it was an innocent comment, but it was soo true!!
Literally was just watching this like an hour ago. I agree that taking selfies at the wrong time is wrong but what these girls are doing is harmless. They aren't hurting anybody. They look stupid, so what. Who cares. Like, I'm not understanding why they were even being recorded.

Because it's a great example of how freaking stupid/pathetic it is and what our society is becoming. What made this example particularly bad is that they're at a baseball game and not even paying attention whatsoever. Like he said when he announced a play- "oh look nobody noticed!"
People are going out and they're on their phones the entire time, taking pictures under the illusion that they're out doing something, but they really aren't. They're at the place, sitting there, on their phones and taking pictures.
I see it a lot at work, too. You have a couple sitting at a table, neither are talking to eachother. Both are fucking around on their phones. Last night, I had a table of guys who were all preoccupied on theirs. I'm dropping off their drinks, I had to go run someone's card real quick, and they stop me, while talking to a friend on the phone to see what HE wants, and tell me that they're ready to order (they really weren't). I made them wait a minute while I ran the card. Why? As soon as I got back, one orders, and the other, still on the phone with his friend, tells me to wait a minute because he's busy talking.
...yep, that's why I made YOU wait, dude. I'm not about to make another table wait for their card to be run because you're going to keep me here while your friend orders via satellite.
Basically "hurry up and wait on me while I inconvenience everyone around me because of me and my phone."
All of this shit is just a sad indicator of what narcissists our society has produced.

Yeah, I know. But what made it different is that was purely photo sharing/photo editing to start with. You can't really edit pics like that via Facebook.
But I agree, this multiple platform thing of social media is getting out of control. I won't bother with snapchat because it's like wtf for? IG and Facebook, fine. But Snapchat, Twitter, etc? Meh.

A baseball game is one of the few places you should REALLY pay attention to your surroundings. Been so much fan injuries lately and getting carted off in a stretcher because they got nailed by a foul ball.

Yeah, they're bland asf and that's exactly why I don't see why people care about what they're doing. As long as they're not hurting anyone or putting others at risk of getting hurt, I could careless. But, I'm glad you made those guys wait, that's just disrespectful.

Guilty I'm a selfie whore, but I would never have my phone out at a big event.
The only time my phone would be out at a big event is if I didn't bring my camera with me. I like taking pictures. It's how I do. Photography is a hobby. You'll rarely see me taking pics of myself haha. I can't remember the last time I took a selfie, tbh.
But overall, I'm the same way. Big events = phone not really out. Too busy/involved to do that shit haha.
