Should parents pay kids to do chores?

I agree with Undine, plus its sets a bad precedent.
That's how I made my pocket money 🙂 can you explain why you see it as bad/wrong? How did you make pocket money? Doesnt it set a type of work ethic?

Never had pocket money, started working from the age of 14.

Parents living on a breadline would not want to encourage this type of behaviour as they can't afford it.

Two types of work ethic:

# Doing something with/without incentive to do so.

# Only doing something when an incentive is known upfront.

I have to agree with LePetitFisk and Teena it's a cultural think, westerner might not understand.

Have to disagree with pinkbird03 Money is the motivation is a bad example to set in my mind.

case in point living with a flatmate and cause I earn more money, I pay my flatmate to do my share of the housework.
