We typically have these discussion and they end in ranting. But this is just ridiculous.

Dude double parks, should just get a ticket, but instead, has additional cops called on him and then tasered. FOR DOUBLE PARKING IN AN EMPTY PARKING LOT? LIKE WHAT?

I have to wait an hour for a police officer to show up at an accident. But apparently, if you are a POC, you only have to double park.

Seems fair, seems warranted. Right? Fucking stupid.

These traffic cops are getting GANGSTA!

This was just nuts. I believe this happened right next to the Bucks home stadium too. I mean, I really doubt the officers understood they were doing this butter to an NBA player. Shouldn't be doing this butter in the first place.

Craziness. click to expand

I agree.

I remember 2 questions on the "psyche exam" (which was actually the same as the FD)
1) was: "do you love your mother?"
2) was: "are you afraid of dirt?"

Both times I was told what to put before the test.

CE classes: they wouldn't directly give you the answers, but you had to be stupid not to get the hints.

I guess what I'm saying is: there is such a demand for law enforcement, that they speed things through. A lot of the guys (not all) have very superficial training, the rest is survival instinct.
That, and every officer is taught from day one not to trust the public. Everyone is a potential criminal. With the lack of knowledge and a severe distrust... what can you expect? click to expand

You telling me this, actually gives me more insight into the situation. I do agree, that the lack of training is causing more harm than good. I respect the military and the police. But I am not so blinded as to not see the glaring issues within them.

When you have a bunch of unskilled police officers, that react before thinking, this is the outcome.

Shouldn’t have happened, agreed

Crazy stuff happens at 2am. Probably thought he was either drunk or high. Parking stupidly at 2am is just asking for trouble

It doesn’t warrant calling for backup and tazing him. Give me a fucking break. These cops are just incompetent cowards that were shaking in their panties at the sight of a tall black man.

How many cops does it take to screw in a light bulb .. or in this case, how many does it take to issue a parking ticket? 🤔 click to expand

This hurts my stomach. Milwaukee should be ashamed of their police!! But we all are so...........
I know for a fact it takes at least 30 min for police to respond in Sac and that's just sad. It's sad how quickly they do respond and in such force when color is brought into the mix. Just shameful. I want to support the police but they keep pulling this butter with LITTLE TO NO REPERCUSSIONS. THEY ARE THE LAW remember?? What a joke. This world... treetrunk it depresses me....

Nothing you said was racist directly. I agree with that.

However, let me point out that, if I parked like this, at 2 am, and walked out to my car, I guarantee, I wouldn't have "back up" called, nor would be treated in such a way.

The assumption, that its 2 am, and he must be a crackhead or meth head, because he is violating a parking rule, is the problem. That inherently is the issue. How can you not see, that jumping to conclusions, based on an asshole parking job, is the crux of the WHOLE issue?

I don’t see it like that.

Anyone would call that an asshole move.

Now, if you u just happen to be driving by at 2am and saw that parking job.......you’d probably laugh and say......look at that drunk ass. Right?

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say with all uncertainty that most altercations at 2am are alcohol/drug related.

I’m guessing they made an assumption based on statistics? click to expand

I think the majority of people, if they saw someone parked out in front of a Walgreen's, at 2 am, with an empty parking lot, they wouldn't even fucking care. Because most people don't associate people going into a Walgreen's at 2 am, as drunk/meth heads.

Walgreen's doesn't really scream BAR or DRUG HOUSE, now does it? Cause MOST of the people I see at Walgreen's, at that time of night, are usually trying to buy medicine from being sick. Cause you know, it's Walgreen's.

So police forces are supposed to pass judgement and use violence before assessing a situation and protecting and serving? 🤔

And even when they assessed the situation, they are supposed to use violence on drunk people and druggies? click to expand

I guess people just don’t understand what it’s like to go to work and worry about if you’re gonna make it back home or not.

To know that at any given moment someone could turn violent and if you’re not alert, you could die.

Stay alert, stay alive click to expand

It's protect and serve.. NOT protect myself at the expense of innocent people. click to expand

That’s fight or flight.

Trust me. That’s why you want a handgun. You wanna live click to expand

Unfortunately, that’s what society has become. This is the part that I have an issue with. It’s that we, as a people, are automatically guilty and now have to prove our innocence. Even for a damn ticket. It’s a direct violation of our constitutional rights and it’s BS. click to expand
We as a people? I view everyone as human beings. I care little about their skin color. Their religion. Their beliefs. I believe in unity. I have very conservative beliefs, as well as very liberal in other beliefs.

But here is the problem with this statement. You say "we as people" are found guilty. In your lifetime, in my lifetime, very few times (if ever) will we ever feel like we are judged as guilty when first approached. Very few times, will a police officer come up to you, and believe your are a criminal right off the bat. How is what Sterling Brown did, seem like criminal behavior to warrant being a criminal? Sure, its a parking violation. Traffic ticket, at most. It wasn't as if he was sitting in his car off, rummaging around, in front of a trap house, with a ski mask on. It's bloody, freaking Walgreen's. You, nor I, would likely EVER be tasered and deemed a criminal for doing the same thing he did.

When you start including yourself, in these types of statements you make, you lose what you are trying to say. You come off as believing that your plight is the same as these types of injustices. You cannot be blind to the significant difference in what happens around you. You need to acknowledge the difference that SOMETIMES happens, when it is obvious, and just say it SUCKS. You don't have to include yourself, and all this other stuff you add, that loses what you are trying to say.

I don't disagree with calling for backup at 2 am, even for a traffic/parking violation. I've been pulled over at that hour and had to wait for backup to show and I'm white. Traffic stops and domestic disputes are two of the most dangerous actions because the police usually have no idea of what they are walking into.

Now the outcome is certainly problematic. There's no excuse for letting this escalate like it did.
I don't have a problem with calling back up either. I have a problem with a parking violation resulting in an arrest and being tasered.

I mean...really. Just make sure the guy is okay and have him move on. He could have been having a medical issue like a seizure for all the cops knew.

They aren't trained to deescalate. click to expand

Right? He wasn't even in his car. He came out of Walgreen's front doors, and then approached the officer.

I had a cop one time, waiting by my car, outside of a gas station, because I left it running when I went in quickly. I got a warning, and he sent me on my way.
