😄 I'm sure there is Pesca. I am a tyrant in the kitchen, and I'm aware of it. The Empress of the Stove. I'm not adverse to someone in there with me, but have to curb that taking a tea towel and shooing someone out so I can work my magic.

Naturally I had the children in the kitchen with me, teaching them. I enjoy that, showing someone how to cook. But when I'm in the mood to cook for someone it's my show from start to finish. And baking is a stress reliever for me. I find kneading dough to be cathartic. All the careful mixing, measuring and stirring ( by hand, I rarely use a mixer for anything ) just soothes the rough edges.

🙂 aPP: I have been at it for a long time, started at age 10 cooking meals for my sister and I while Pa was at work. It takes time, to get a feel for things. After you've been doing it a long while you can easily peruse a recipe and sense all the flavors in your mouth. Know what will work, suit your or your families tastes. Randomly discard or use which ones you want to try.
I come from a long line of proud mistresses and masters of their domain in the kitchen. In mi familia food is what we do to express our care for someone. It's a point of pride; with family gatherings at the fore for laughter, love, good drink and excellent food. So to me it's like the breath in my lungs to make a large dinner. It gives me joy to do this.
I am always happy to take someone under my wing and show them how. I'll even wear my snazzy 40's apron doing it. If you ever have a question about anything, float it my way. 🙂

Another affliction of mine Pesca. I far prefer older things to new. The apron was sewn for me by a friend for my birthday last year, so it is new; the pattern old. A lovely thing in pink denim and strawberry fabric. Ruffles at the shoulder, crosses over in back and buttons up. Hits mid-thigh with nice deep pockets. Things used to make so much more sense. It properly covers you for slinging food about. 🙂

so you have noticed it too then? that clothes or other wearing items actually served a purpose. say 30/40/also 50ies period. most of the garments or costumes or whatever else actually were very complimentary for the figure. they always seemed to highlight the best features of a woman. today? pffft. jeans that come up to your pelvis bone at best. blouses that cannot be tucked in. blazers that end under your breast. i don't understand why things like that are not made anymore?

i don't mind old stuff at all. i go to all kinds of places just to be able to lay my hands on something vintage. i??d rather pay a little more - it will last anyhow for goodness knows how long. never out of season. options of combination - countless.

Precisely. It was figure flattering, made of good fabric and well put together. There is a class and panache to older clothing that is not present today. I am built like a woman. Not a young boy. It's discouraging having blouses straining buttons or trousers that are not made for someone with curves.
They are probably not made that way any more because it's not very cost effective to put quality in clothing like that. One reason, and why paying the earth for classic foundation pieces is just smart.
Most everything in this home is older. Intentionally. Not that I eschew modern ( sitting in front of a comp, no? ) it just suits me better, feels homey. Cozy and warm. Well loved pieces. Nothing so archaic or fussy that it screams "hands off!" 🙂
