Sheatedclaws, we had mutual friends and we met through them and became friends. We had 9mnts or so of friendship and dated for a month which led to us getting married. Love alone is nothing to me. I value respect, honesty and loyalty more than love. I loved completely once, but the guy lacked all 3 so i left him. Not to say i dont love my husband, my love for him is different because he showed me the loyalty, the respect and the honesty throughout our friendship. Its unlike the blind dumb love of loving someone who doesnt have what i value. I hope i answered u.
I dont know if its me alone who does this, but each time i break up with someone i raise the bar a little higher. The heart hardens so to speak. What i tolerated from the last, i dont tolerate it with the next.

I think it's just a natural process with a lot of people. You learn from experience. However, there are women out there who never learn and continue to tolerate the same crap from previous failed marriages, so who knows. They usually come off as having really weak personalities or being push overs.
Personally, I'm the same way in regard to "raising the bar." Whatever caused serious issues before isn't going to be tolerated in new relationships. They're usually things you never would have thought to be an issue until they became an issue. Now it's a red flag.
