What dry food do you buy for your fur baby? Why do you recommend it? Thinking of changing it up for my fur babies

Particularly if your cat is male, regular dry food is discouraged. Increases the risk of urinary problems. No longer have a boy, but with that fact in mind, I feed my girls 9 Lives Plus Care. It's nothing fancy or organic or whatever, but they like it, it's cost effective and they're healthy.

I alternate between wet and dry. Too much dry screws up the kidneys and urinary tracts. Cats get most of their hydration from wet food, and in our society, they shifted over to this easier, dry "cereal" for cats, which isn't something they wouldn't eat naturally.
Nothing wrong with dry food, but either get the stuff that helps prevent kidney/uti issues, or alternate between the two.
My little boy furbaby had pink urine out of the blue last year. He'd developed crystals from the solely dry food diet. Vet had him go on a special prescription wet food to clear things up. Then we did check ups 1, 3, and 6 months after that. I switched over to a reg wet food and alternate dry food once or twice a week. His urinalysis has come back fine every time since.

Outside, they'd get that from their kills. On a dry food diet, an indoor car runs the risk of urinary/kidney issues. Or that's how our vet explained it anyway. Our boy had crystals in his urethra that would have eventually become a complete blockage. $ 600 later, we overhauled his diet and never had that particular problem again.

My last furball, had I known how fucked up dry food can make cats, I would have put more wet in her diet. Poor bub. Kidney failure got her.

I do the same as others mentioned with serving wet food not dry. I only give my cat dry food in small amounts, as a kind of condiment, for variety. My cat sometimes hunts and eats her kill, so when that happens she eats less of what I serve her that day.

So many different kinds of wet canned cat food! When I used to feed my cats lots of wet canned food, it would be 9 lives.

I used to have my boy on a dry food diet until I heard from several vets that even the cheapest wet food is better than the "best" dry food. They aren't meant to eat their food dry.
So now my boy is on the good stuff.

Stubbs have never eaten wet food. He refuses.

But yes.. Cats get most of their water intake from their food.
Not sure if any of your cats do this, but one them likes to move his water bowl all over the place till he finds the perfect spot and then he'll drink from it. Drives me mad because the floor gets wet so 50% of the water is gone lol

But so far, based on his urinalysis, he hasn't had any negative issues with this stuff. Neither have my others.
