This pic could be taken the same way. It's art, I don't see how a cigarette is sexualizing anyone unless they are inappropriately undressed.

I seen a bit of the conversation that was going on so I did a reverse image search to figure out more about the photographer and the images. The information and controversy surrounding them is actually a pretty interesting read.
I think it was a good choice to share. The whole point of art is to evoke something; no?
I think this does just that. It dances on the line that separates acceptable and unacceptable. It gets people thinking. It causes people to have some emotional reaction.

Fair statement. Not just this one but all of them that you've expressed towards these images. If you feel a certain way nobody can argue that.
In truth I get both sides of both of your views towards these images. I think that's what makes me, personally, appreciate the pictures though. Some aspects of them do make me a bit uneasy (like such a young child holding a cigarette), but at the same time there is an intrinsic beauty about them.
The imagery is raw in nature. They're not making any excuses they're not trying to be anything other than what they are. They're not seeking permission nor forgiveness.
In a way that's kind of just like real life. It's raw it makes no excuses it seeks no permission and asks for no forgiveness. I think that's kind of the point of them though. It is a representation of what life is.
That's just how I see it. I still understand and appreciate your position on it nonetheless.

I looked up more of the town just now, it's stunning. I will add this on the bucket list and pair it with Lycia,Turkey for a nice trip. 🙂 I want to go to the Turkish baths so bad!
