Do you believe in true love? Or do you settle?
The issue in the concept of “true love” is that it’s completely subjective. What you might deem as “true love” might actually be infatuation for one or both parties… The issue with “settling” is, everyone does it to a degree whether they like to admit it or not. That person you currently deem a “true love”? How do you know it’s not just your hopeless romantic heart settling for this particular person cause it’s finally tired of going through so many different prospects? That’s why love, dating, relationships are so complicated. No one can actually win with the idea of scoring this illusion of “true love”. I’m sure the people who ended up a statistic in the 50% divorce rate didn’t go into it with the intentions of becoming part of that statistic. I believe a more logical and measured approach vs emotional to love is the key for a successful long term relationship. An example is listing all the pros you expect a satisfying relationship to give you and end up with someone who can meet majority if not all the criteria. Guess my venus 😛

I do believe in true love and I refuse to settle for the sake of having someone. I’m content with being alone.. after finding out that my sons dad cheated, it opened my eyes that that was not true love. It was a very comfortable and convenient union. Everything looked good on paper.. he was a great provider, we had a big beautiful house with an in ground pool.. he spoiled me with gifts. We could have grown old and died together if i was willing to settle. I know he never would have left me because I provided him with the same comfort. But all of that was so superficial at the end of the day.
It might be my natal Venus square Neptune that refuses to give up on the idea of true love. But I’ve experienced a love of convenience and it was not enough for me, personally. When I say true love, I mean someone that loves me and themselves enough to not sabotage the connection for the sake of getting a new piece of ass, or meeting some other temporary superficial need. Someone that can provide me with the same emotional care/ safety net, devotion and loving home that I can provide for them.

You reminded me of when I was on a train and a girl was reading a piece with a list of names on and it was a pros and cons. One guy was called Mario and it said "does thing that make me think WTF" - must be when he takes all those mushrooms.click to expand

Hmmm interesting thought. I think that is true the last ten years for me. Well I still believe my ex was true love, but his alcoholism got in the way and not dealing with some things. If it hadn’t been for parents extreme enabling when we moved we’d still be married & he wouldn’t be sick 😢 No one ever cheated, and he has always still had my back. I certainly have learned a lot & am more healthier now in the aftermath of it all.

I explained above how basically feelings are very subjective. There’s no guarantee it’s actually mutual. Society got to that 50% divorce rate based on doing things on feelings… so looking at it logically, clearly doing things based on feelings doesn’t guarantee success of a long term relationship. After grasping the facts on this, I decided to go about another way to guarantee the least disappointment I possibly could for myself. Idk it’s kind of hard to explain my thought process but I’ve seen others do it too (unintentionally) and it working out better for them. I also believe in manifestation and that requires thinking more straight with confidence of exactly what you want vs being consumed by feelings.

It takes time to know. Lol so logical.. that doesn’t work for me. I find out along the way. I’d still be married if it wasn’t for things I couldn’t see about the future .. 17 years before they happened. Not everyone is forthcoming about their issues.

I know, there’s so many unknown variables regardless of how logical a person can attempt to be. I been trying to turn any *perceived* negatives into positives. Everything in life is an interpretation. I been working on seeing how much I can maneuver my destiny with manifestations. It’s kind of draining tho. I guess it just depends on how much you want something vs waiting for things to just happen around you.

I saw a post by a Facebook friend. He’s a Pisces.. about true love. He’s searching for it.. and he’d made a comment about a show. Anyway his sister posted saying there is no such thing. It made me think about it.

I’m in the relationship is just right camp .. and would like it to be true love.. it might be but that traditionally takes awhile to figure out. And what qualifies for true love anyway? I believe I had it, but it got messed up due to things that weren’t about me. So does true love get through your issues.. maybe not so much. But yet people define it certain ways as if it gets through anything.

I don’t believe in “the one”. I do think it’s about partnership & compatibility & love and passion too. That’s why I say it’s about being right. If you have this then love & passion don’t die. But there are behaviors that can kill the love and passion. I personally have had two.
