Emotional cheating

How would you define it?Let’s say 2 people are in a relationship (not with each other), but they share a very deep bond and talk about everything. Their partner doesn’t know. They are not physically intimate.
That sounds like a friendship, but a sneaky one. Why are they hiding? WHAT are they hiding? They better tell their partner before he/she finds out.
For me, emotional cheating is when you are infatuated with someone other than your partner. You don't even have to be on speaking terms, but spent your mental and emotional energy on them.
I remember a boss of mine saying he’d be more threatened by his wife having an emotional connection with a man than a sexual one. He said anyone could have sex but not a deep emotional bond.
I had a boss who I connected with emotionally. I had to limit him on what he can ask.
There has to be boundaries plus I have to respect the woman he is with.
Just be careful, you don't want to hurt anyone.
This is why male-female friendships can be tricky. Especially if there’s some sexual tension there.
Anytime you’re hiding it, then it’s a problem for your relationship. Pretty much emotional cheating or perhaps you’re in a toxic relationship and you aren’t allowed to have friends. Either way you’ve got a problem.
Having little cute moments and things, hearing a song on the radio and thinking about someone else, not your partner. Seeing a nice spot for a picnic and wanting to share that spot with the other person. All that kind of stuff.
Feeling emotionally connected but wanting to jump their bones 😂😆
My only concern with this is the partners not knowing part! I mean if it’s nothing, why hide it?
Something wrong with the kind of relationship the person shares with one or both of them.

that's what ruined my marriage. (on my end. abusing me, on hers) i should've had better boundaries. abuse got worse once she figured stuff out. we've been divorced since november.
