Women dating younger men...

I noticed a pattern with the women here complaining about relationship woes...

They are usually older than the men.

Is this some new trend? It seems like dating younger is becoming a default, but why would they want to do that?

I'm 23, so maybe it's different for me, but I would feel like a Pedobear if I dated a younger guy.

And generally, women do mature faster than men...and are readier to commit.

Is there a reason women would date younger?

I've been reading that one over the last four days.

Women do it for the exact same reasons men do and they are varied. It could be that younger guy is mature enough to be with her even With his age. Another is, and lets be real, younger people tend to be easier to manipulate and will put up less of a fight than a man or woman in the same age group. Maybe the younger guy makes her feel alive again with his energy. Like life, there are many reasons as to why this is happening and it could be a combination. Some good, some bad. Realistically speaking, there will always be issues simply because the maturity level will always be a factor and cannot make up for the big gap in life experience. There's no making up for that except with some level of understanding.

Well, at 23 you couldn't go much younger because you would LITERALLY be a pedophile!

My husband is 12 years younger than me. Before him, I had never dated anyone more than 3 years older or 1 year younger. Because of his age, I didn't pay attention to him (romantically) when we met, but he pursued me until I noticed.

For the record, people think we're the same age. He's a Scorpio who was born an old man, and I'm a Gemini who never grew up !

Yeah, younger has started becoming the theme for me since I hit my late 20s, it would seem. Not a deliberate thing. It's about connection for me, which can transcend a few years or even quite a few years on either end. If I could choose that "perfect connection" and tailor the age though, I'd opt for older.

Older men actually don't seem to be interested in me, and it's starting to make me wonder if I'm particularly immature or something.

Maybe it's because you look younger as to why the younger guys are attracted to you. I look alot younger than my age so I get hit on by guys in their early 20's, lol. My ex gem was younger than me even though he was pretty mature for his age, he still lacked experience in certain areas & I grew weary of that.

Had my fair share of older...so routine, I was bored stiff. Finally dating someone that is in my age bracket & I have to say, I'm noticing the differences. 🙂

After the ex, I've been wary of younger guys because of the bs with him, combined with a few other younger guys, I was over it.

Lo and behold, along comes the guy I'm seeing now. He's younger too.

Yes.

So how do you guys measure maturity? How is it established that women are more mature than men? Like, how would you go about to measure something like that? Don't different people come with different baggages which enable them to be and act differently and have different hopes and goals in life? It's the same with intelligence, you can score high on an IQ-test, but then there is "the emotional intelligence" as well, and probably many other kinds of ways you can distinguish yourself as intelligent. Hell, why not "street smart".

What I'm getting at is that not all people are mature, but maturity looks different depending on what you want out of life. It can't be masured in terms of being ready to settle down, or whatever. Many people settle down only to escape their old selves. That's deception.

Anyway, I'm all for older women, though I don't like the sound of that. Ew, "older women", sounds like I'm into freaky stuff. No, what I mean is I could definitely see myself with some of the female friends and acquaintances in my life who are in their 30's and 40's. We get along perfectly, some of them are rather wild and "immature" in their way, but overall I enjoy their company better than the company of girls age 20-25.

@Quietstorm: Well..... I can't possibly argue with you in-depth analysis. All I can say is that thanks to you and Ninjafish, I'm looking forward to turning 50. 😛

I didn't go looking for men and certainly not younger. Age doesn't really cross my mind. I have tried to subtlely to dissuade younger guys once I find out their age but, they are awesomely determined. I have tried to establish friendships and hanging out but, they aren't having it. I have actually had them want to shack, get married and have children, etc. And you would think they wouldn't be bossy but, little daddy's ain't messing around. They take the lead all the way. I am not very committment-minded. I'm more into love affairs.

I have had "relationships" (love affairs) with as much as 13 years younger. They have been Gemini, Libra, Capricorn, Sagittarius
