Maybe it's my age, but for me, it would be a no. I mean it would look silly 40-50 year old successful man/woman to type like that. It looks immature, lazy and illiterate. I don't mind a u for you or a 2 instead of two, or an occasional abbreviated phrase like ttyl. But, if every word was abbreviated, it would be a no for me. I'd be like come on, make some effort to show your intelligent!

I guess it's common for the gen Y's, though. They probably would think it's silly to spell it all out. lol!!

I don't mean it to sound judgemental, it's just a personal preference for me.

Generation Gap 101, I suppose.

I agree with you, and I'm 18 so it's not a generational gap thing 😛

No, words in any form are the verbal representation of oneself.

Anyone who thinks that they are not judged by the way they speak and write is living in a fantasy world.

Those of you who are trying- consciously or not- to drag literally everything down to the lowest common denominator by invoking lack of meaning (or total relativism) are only marginalizing yourselves.

Do you really think that standards are all relative because you say so? Do you really think that you aren't judged every day? If you do, you're a fool or a tool-- a useful idiot to those who want to promote illiteracy and lack of standards for their own ends.

Look at yourselves! A pack of self-absorbed little hedonists who think you have all the answers when you clearly haven't a clue about what is being done with you, by whom, and why. You just play right into their hands, willingly dumbing yourselves down and abandoning even the pretense of standards.

There was a thread this week wondering where you will all be in 60-70 years. You'll be utterly lost, having tried to erect a new world for yourselves that has no foundation stronger than your own puffed up egos.

I take pride in my Virgo placements. I may use short versions for words but I cannot stand to see grammar errors.

I'm a total grammar nazi in my own language. I find it sad that a large population that has English as native language manage to make so many mistakes. No one is asking you to master another language yet you cannot even learn the difference between "You're" and "your". How lazy can one get?

I know the topic isn't about grammar. Struck a nerve I guess.

Truth.

Early 20's Aqua texted me last week--

"Hey, Montgomery. Can you tell me if... "

Sign off: "Okay, thank you 🙂"

Proper punctuation throughout.

Once I got over the shock, I was impressed-- not by

her grasp of basic punctuation-- but by the courtesy.

There was this one time...

I really hate using my phone in the car and I HAD to send this message off to head office.

"car drvn b 10min l8 soz"

Honestly I wouldn't mind. Maybe I'm use to it? I slot right in the gap of that traditional going onto the hey iPad everything. I'll never understand why kids these days have to talk like that though. I mean they all have full keyboard phones anyway. I remember when I actually did use to abbreviate a lot more given the way old texting system worked. Past certain characters it automatically charges you for another text.

As most have said already, the way people text isn't necessarily a reflection of their character. If I know the person I can look past it.

"No, in fact, I wouldn't date a person at all who contacts me through texts."

this is soooooo me.

I met a man at an old-year-party. He was Leo Sun with Gemini Mars. We exchanged numbers. He wrote me first. But I noticed he texted too much. In a place where we could meet or talk on the phone. I decided that I dislike him. We met once but it was dead on both sides. one more text out of politeness and that was it. finished. My guess is that he took numbers of other gilrs at the same party and was trying to manage it all at once.

someone that types the way Truecap used in the title of this post? heck no. I deal with dyslexia... so that just messes with my head even more! How hard is it to type out words?

I understand if you are on a limited data plan, call instead! There is a difference between someone that struggles with typing, especially if they are not really a "texter" vs. plain lazy, which I classify TrueCaps example as lazy...

Oh and yes I have met people that have profiles that text like that..and on dxp..it is confusing..Especially long paragraphs.. can be frustrating cause I want to understand you better. So I can give you an honest answer.

I even know people who are very punctual in vocabulary...if you dont know the difference between. To, two, or too..a person will dismiss your grammar ways and won't even bother with physical attraction. It's a turn off.

To answer the OP:

"Wud u date sm1 who txs like dis?" is quite an exaggerated example to get your point across..

To be fair, the last time I remember someone texting like that was when I was a teenager, so no, I would not date a teenager right now since Im 31 years old. However I dont see anything wrong for a teenager who texts "normally" to date another teenager who texts like this. There is so much more to a person than they way they text

Having said that, I dont feel any better than someone who texts like that. Just because that person texts like that doesnt mean I should look down on him/her. Which I suspect the OP indirectly does, being a Cap and all 😛
