I read the books and watched the movie, because I had a friend hounding me that it was "Phenomenal!" and a "total must read" ‚‚‚ She is also a virgin, which explains the awe factor she got from it. I never bothered to finish it, or half way. but I did peek at a read when I bought it at the airport once.

but I don't like the way the authoress wrote the woman, like she has no will anymore after being with this guy. like she is hypnotized, but then again i'm not sure as I didn't even watch the film. I saw some youtube clips though.

It was captivating for sure but it never touched my soul but kept my attention.

More like the way his demeanor shows a utter lack of care yet in the same token, could stare right into your soul. Alluring. And quite BEAUTIFUL in my opinion.

Hahha. No. She falls in love with a man who is damaged. Yet knows how to please her in ways that are considered unorthodox. Good read but not deeo. Shallow romance for teens. ((But I liked it in my late twenties)

I chose depth and realness over anything else.

Haven't read it...I'm a guy...why would I?...but heard mixed reviews from women... ...willing to explore Pisces-style.

I had at least one friend who raved about it, so I read some excerpts from the books.....holy shit, talk about poor writing!! The characters are as bland as shelf-safe milk, they lack anything remotely interesting about them. The main female character spends the majority of the time thinking "oh my!" about anything involving the main male character, the plot is almost as weak as the characters, and the bdsm isn't really real bdsm.

I did watch the movie (free), since I figured it had to be an improvement if they left out all the "oh my" thoughts. In one scene near the end the female lead gives permission to the guy to do some bdsm on her. He does some spanking and restraints, lightly flogs her and then fucks her. She goes to her room and is crying her eyes out and tells him that he'll never touch her like that again, and later breaks up with him. Yes, she ASKED for bdsm and then gets upset that he gives it to her. That's the lameness that is 50 shades of shit!

Add that it's a rip off on Twilight (the author admits she wrote it as fan fiction), and my opinion has always been that Twilight was complete shit writing.....so shit writing based on shit writing! I have no idea how either series ever made it to the best sellers list. People seem to be so in the dark about truly good erotica that they're gobbling up the vomit like it's sex candy.
