I know weird topic but hear me out...

I work in Kitchen and Bath design and oddly enough this topic comes up for debate basically on the daily.

I seem to be the odd man out for preferring baths over showers. I just love being enveloped in hot water and relax after a long day.

All my co workers think it's "disgusting". I've gotten every comment from:

"It's a mideval filth cauldron"...(way to quote a t.v show, Donna)

"I don't have time for baths"...(well Jessica you're a bitch so maybe you should relax).

"Baths give you yeast infections"...(I've never had one ever in my life, Nancy)

I come from a long line of bath takers...

My grandma was old school and would "save bathwater" yeah that was cringe.

My father during his boughts of depression would sometimes spend hours in the bath.

My mom thinks it will cure all illnesses from headaches, menstrual cramps, insomnia and polio etc...you get the jist.

So sound off...are you a bath taker or do you pass on the "filth cauldron"?

I have a shower in my apartment and I long for a bathtub because all of the possibilities it offers. But I can't put one because there's no room, so I bought a shower with a place for sitting/shaweing/putting stuff and take my "bath" as a grumpy cat. Anyway baths are cool minus the fact that you lay in water mixed with stuff from the users...If I had it for myself I'd use it...Other scenario's...no tnx

My old apartment had a shower bath combo, but my roommates were so gross I wouldn't take a bath there ever.

Now I'm back to living with my mom.

I scrub it down before taking one.

Plus it's only my mom and I in the house.

I don't get super dirtyy in my day to day.

bath is more relaxing/stress relieving. at the end of the day, it would be nice to soak into a warm/hot bath and lay back...close your eyes. shower because it's hard to find time..and it's more efficient.

Baths are fine. It’s nice to sit and soak sometimes.

Germs are everywhere. Not really too concerned about my fucking bath lmao

Same

Plus very little germs can live in water for a short period of time.

If you are a sweaty filthy monster ..then shower first.

But if you're like me with a desk job...I don't have much dirt on my body.

I hardly break a sweat.

P.s awesome that you are a dude who likes baths.

I miss my old hot tub. I would just light a cigar and soak in the hot water with the bubbles on. Then I would jump in the pool and get that rush of temperature change. Then I'd do it again, and maybe again. Then I'd be soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo chill. And throw on some bay rum aftershave. Pool/Hot Tub combos are worth every cent.

In the mornings I lay down in the shower and act like I'm trying to nap, but the water keeps me awake. It's amazing. It's like laying in bed in the morning, but with hot water pouring down on you.

I use to do that when I was younger.

I mentioned this in another thread and I am right there with you. Some people don't even use a cloth... just rubbing soap on top of dead skin.

I take baths almost exclusively.

A bath gently and naturally exfoliates.

You gotta soak your skin, your private parts for water to get in every nook n' crany. Then, people ask me about my skin being so soft, shiny, etc...

I have taught so many people how to bathe...

That's why people need pedicures so much... not bathing and having crusty ass feet.

I could go on forever.

Filth cauldron cause your ass ain't took a bath in years.

I had a friend suffering b.o. I told her cause you ain't took a bath in decades. I said, when you do, the tub is going to be filthy so wait until you go on travel and tip the maid. I told her to add oil so she could remove more dead skin.

It's really important to bathe when loosing weight.

And, I rarely get ill. Last time I was ill was December 2014.

I find that so-called "germaphobes" are the nastiest because there's germs in proper cleaning... cleaning is gross to them. They think they're being "classy" by calling themselves such but in my mind, "here goes this slack MF."

How can you not ever submerge yourself in water and soap?

Shower

Or

Bath + shower

I always have to shower after a bath because you need to scrub the dead skin to clear up from the bath.

I just let the water out the tub; clean the tub with my cloth and bar soap; and, do a final wash and rinse. Then, I moisturize with

more oil (sometimes scented, like rose oil) while still seated in the bath.

Summer for instance I prefer taking showers.

If you really wanna gross people out, mention coconut milk baths....😉

Shower for every day use, bath for when I’m in a ‘bath mood’. I love baths though.

I like adding:

-oats to keep my skin soft

-those floral scented salts

-essential oils

It feels like I am cooking myself 😂😂😂

Cooking yourself in a pretty perfumed concoction 🥰

Ew baths are gross.

I have a massive one in my en-suite i haven’t used once. I only sit in it and smoke cigarettes at night with the window wide open.

It’s really nice to sit in and look outside cause the window is the whole wall so I look at the moon and stars. But I sit in it with no water and my clothes on and just smoke and stare outside lol.

But not anymore cause i quit smoking. Bummer.

I imagine if o did take a bath it would be nice cause it’s practically the size of a pool.

ActuAlly I could see myself getting whoopsie smashed and drowning in it while smoking and watching breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Wow this was a really long answer for someone who hates baths.

Kk.

I love baths. There is a group of women who absolutely love them like me where I work. But one of my best friends, hates them. Thinks it’s gross.

After workouts though she complains about her body hurting. I told her, take a shower, then run a warm/hot bath and put some epsom salt in it. Then soak. She said no. I do it and I feel like new.

She’s still complaining the next day.

I can’t do it daily, but I would if I could. Once a week is a must though or on days when I just need to relieve some stress or muscle pain.

When I was in design I had a lot of people that wanted freestanding tubs to go with walk in showers.

I think it’s more for relaxing than cleaning these days.

I would shower before bathing.

It comes up a lot when people are going to remodel with the intention on selling.

The old rule of thumb was to have at least one bath in the home.

There has been a recent shift in ideology and some designers and real estate agents are saying that it isn't necessary to have a bath in the home for re-sale purposes.

Showers are easier and more accessible.

My response was "when I buy my house, it better have a tub".

Everyone looked at me like I was an alien 😂💀

I shower/bathe every other day. On bath days I don’t wash my hair. Main reason because I have so much damn hair it’s a lot less work if I don’t wash it. And two, your hair stays healthier if you don’t wash it every day. Plus I loveeee hot baths and hot tubs!

I love baths. I find them very relaxing and pampering. I can spend hours in it. Like you said, the water covering you it’s so so comfy and lovely.

I take showers to wake me up or if is hot, otherwise baths are 100% better.

I stayed in a ski lodge with a bunch of friends a few years back.

The shower in that place OMG.

Us girls had a party in there. Bigg enough for all 4 of us.

My current bf was up there too, but him and I weren't dating yet.

I always say

..too bad that giant shower went to waste lololol.

Are you talking about the blood?

Usually because of gravity the water keeps things in place...or you can wear a cup/tampon. (I don't...I'm a free bleeder...but to each their own)

Side note: depending on the duration of your shower you also might waste more water than a simple bath.

Yes, conservation. 👌

(We won't mention that new shower systems greatly limit the amount of flow...thanks California EPA standards)

That's why grandma's generation were better off with environment impacts.

Like noted above she "shared" bathwater.

Oh nice. Didn't know they fixed that problem with showers but given that it takes time for new stuff to spread it's likely that most showers will still waste a lot of water.

Still good to know that there has been progress regardless of that.

As with anything there are ways around it.

My customers hate it because it's just not enough water.

Our installers tell them...it's a little restrictor.

We can't remove it for you...but for reference *here it is*.

So...yeah people are removing them because it's actually ridiculous how little water drips out.

Not even enough to wash soap out of your hair.

But I don't see any need to take an hour shower or even 20 minutes.

People don't have time for baths but will take 20 minute showers? 🙄

My mom thinks it will cure all illnesses from headaches, menstrual cramps, insomnia and polio etc...you get the jist.

Don’t ever take a bath when you’re on your period. I once did it and fainted on the bathroom floor when I got out. 😵 Well later I heard that you’re not supposed to do that lol.

Lol why not..I'm 30 and have done that my whole period life.

Are you talking about the blood?

Usually because of gravity the water keeps things in place...or you can wear a cup/tampon. (I don't...I'm a free bleeder...but to each their own)

Not because of blood but because I got sick after it.

You’re a free bleeder? How is it working out?

Oh just like too much heat I guess?

Maybe you get tooo hot during that time of the month, so it causes a ride in blood pressure.

And the free bleeding is excellent

I have no issues.

Been doing it about 2 years now

Tampons are just so toxic...and even the natural ones I just don't trust the idea anymore.

Tbh, I never had a heavy flow. If I did I probably wouldn't even attempt free bleeding lol.
