Not sure if I made this topic before, but here we go.

My whole life, I have always made it my objective to nickname people. Not because I can't remember their names, it's quite the opposite, I almost always remember names. I just always wanted a unique way to refer to someone, so that whenever they hear it they know it's me.

I find myself nicknaming people multiple times, each with at least 5 different variations, it's fun and keeps me different from the rest and what people are used to hearing 🙂

I have no idea if this is a Virgo trait, anyone else do this?

Yeah, I like to use nicknames if I can think of one for the person, lol. It feels really intimate (not sure if that's a virgo thing, but that's generally why I do it).

I kind of like it when people make up nicknames for me too. Either jokingly or for real. Again, it's just really intimate. Must be the leo in me.

omg :X

I have a problem when it comes to this.

The nicknames take on minds of their own. I will expand on nickname, like you said, into 5 or nicknames by the end of it.
It never ends really. Haha

My dog has like 5 middle names

Marley
Mushu
Juju
Jellybean
Pou Chi
MeMe

Lol and yes I do this to people too.
I'm always worried I'm gonna nickname the wrong person and they're going to be totally offended.

Omg, my cats have five million nicknames. I'm sure they have an identity crisis.

I'm the same!!! My daughter, dog and ex had so many names. My ex loved to do this too and he's a Leo. I also make up names for people in my head, most especially when I dont know the person but they're on my radar for w/e reason(like "Vegetable Lasagna" in Seinfeld)

I also have the habit of unnecessarily lengthening names too - instead of shortening like most peopl do.

Like if they go by Chris, Jake, Matt, etc.
I'm probably definitely going to call them Christopher, Jacob, or Matthew.
& then from there they will gain further stupid names tacked on the end. haha

For example, my co-worker goes by Matt, I call him Matthew Lepeu.

My parents dog is Zak. Just Zak, that's the name he came with.
I call him Zachary Phineas, the third. Royalty in disguise. Hahaha and I have special voice for him too.
Their other dog is Tika ...Miss Tika Marisa, Teeks Mareese, TitiToodle, Fatgirl Freckles. Lmao

I'm sick !

Yeah I give people at least two or three nicknames myself, never really noticed that I do it so much. For me it's just for my own personal enjoyment and the names I pick usually have some significance to a shared experience or quality I read from them.

Shy Girl - Michelle
Euro Dave - David
Angry Man - Cid
Bat- Kieth
Trash Can - Trenton
All about the Lights - William
Scuba - Randy
Shoo Man - Zhan
Commando - Phillip
Darkness - Aria
Creepy Ed - Edward
Petite - Kalisa
D money - Darren

My children all have many nicknames.

Eldest - Lovebug, C---bug ( she loved giving smooches when tiny, and you caught a cold it seemed after..so Lovebug ), C---doodle, C---loodeums, Cecil, and Schweetiepie.

Middle - My son. He was almost 10 lbs. at birth so he was promptly nicknamed "Bubba". That followed with 'Bubba Dude' or 'Dude'. D--endoo. A short stint he was the Poop Picasso ( thank Gawd that was short lived, I became The Flash at changing his diaper ). o.O

Youngest - Forever nursing.. so she got 'BoobyMonstah', shortened to 'Boo' and every incarnation thereof, BooMomma, BooMami, BooMammy, BooMon'terMon'ter, BooMarg'et..incorporation of middle name.

Everyone within my circle gets their own nickname as well, it's just a sign of deep affection.

The dog I just call 'tard. Because she is. —

I do this too, all the time and I do it subconsciously and right away. I never noticed till right now actually. There's something about connecting with someone as a friend and having a specific bond that I refuse to call them by whatever everyone else refers em too so I end up making nicknames out of nowhere. But they never complain or ask they actually like how I come up with the weirdest nicknames for them and I like it when they do it back maybe thats why I have a variety of them.

Exactly!
You said what I was trying to say, in a much better way 🙂

My cat Magnus goes by:

Mags
Margaret
Maggie
Mar-ga-REET!
Magneto
Margarita Fluffy Pants
Marjorie
Thug

And my other 2 cats, 2 dogs, 2 parrots & 1 horse also have a zillion nicknames. I think my corgi thinks his name is Corgi. Or Corgus. Or Corgalopes. Or even Hey Who Took Your Legs Shorty....
