Aqua men help me understand better?

So I know an aqua from many years

We both loved eachother and then we had a breakup and I did not contact him for 8 years. Nor he

We had our own things to do. And set our lives but I was very much heart broken

I am a Taurus

Anyways. Decided to meet him and he was excited too. We had a great time. He took me out. We chatted. Went on a long drive and he gifted me a flower plant

Then it was on and off being in touch.

Met few times and it’s been a year with that. Went out few times had good long chats and music etc etc he met my family too and few times held my hand tight while crossing the road, asked me if I had lunch once when v were to met, gave me juice to drink another time, he joins me when I take selfies, dropped me to my destination while he was on his way etc but sometimes he disappears and sometime he likes to chat on whatsapp but not take calls and sometimes he is just too happy to see me in person. He while talking sometimes hints what his career goals or other goals are and sometimes he speak about his health issues too with me...

But sometimes in between he is quite silent and sometimes he does not write or text from his end by when I do he immediately responds etc and he did have a busy schedule too. He was also very happy when I met his parents while I was in their city...anyways

So what should I understand from this?

Does he like me, does he still love me? Does he have any interest in me? Or I am just thinking things from my end?

Love you? I think he wants to, but is afraid of all the luggage from the past interfering and you playing the years long game doesn't help in any case.

Yes will try to be a bit fast and will throttle up.

And the reasons.... we were in different countries after breakup.... and it ended in a way that would not leave much room for even a talk so it felt better to just be not bothering him....

While being back in the same country felt like meeting up once just to be on speaking terms...

But then after the meet it felt like it was much better than just being on speaking terms... from both ends.... however if I try to be moving faster from my end I get a bit worried as I really don’t know how he might react. Or think. And I have been in the same country but different cities again so meet up always is not planned but whenever I am in his city or he is in mine we make sure to try to meet up... so that is the situation....
