I'm guessing you're a Leo from your username. I don't really have an answer for you but just wanted to say that I'm in the same boat. My Aqua won't talk to me either but will reply if he thinks I'm asking something that needs a reply (I asked him if he picked up a package I had ordered for him a while ago and he replied to that pretty normally).
Maybe ask to meet up so you can talk face to face or just show up at his doorstep? From what I know, they can ignore like a boss but also like to show respect to everyone so he might not turn you away if you're at his doorstep.

He told you he doesn’t want to date you. Unfortunately you can’t change that. Ignoring you is his way of moving on and focusing on other thing.
Yeah, I just really wonder what happened. Things were really, really good before, and since he won't talk to me I can't figure it out. I know that ignoring him is best but I do miss talking to him.

Yeah 'we're fine' broke up after two miscarriages and he is depressed and suicidal.
He will keep it to himself devise strategies to overcome it all. Will usually be successful....but never let on the shit was hitting the fan. It's obv to everyone...but they think they are getting away with it.
In other words....you are right to be concerned about him. Your gut is correct.
I have learnt that you need to avoid making the issue worse by trying to help and letting your feelings burden the situation more.
Simply letting them know it's ok to be honest with you and you respect their journey and choices and there is no judgement.
Also letting them know *nudge nudge * wink wink. You are happy to keep up the pretense if that is what they need ..so long as it hurts no one ..(inc yourself). No one likes being stripped down to admit * i am depressed * ...it's nice to have a mask sometimes.
Work means you are taken up time wise ...and you have to invest wisely. So i try to let people know i understand.
Also regarding the mask...you don't need it either with me....i don't expect you to 'get up and glad rags ready ' for me. Come as you are.
