You are looking at it from a theoretical sense, she was looking at it from a practical sense. It makes sense in theory but is not always that way in practice. Having a weak placements =/= the person is weak. It just means the person has to work doubly hard to get positive results. I think that's what @Plague meant.
It's very easy to claim it's the person's ego, especially easy when you don't have that placement.

OP, there is someone here on dxp who has almost the same chart as myself. 11 of the same placements, most of them in the same houses, except he's a Cancer rising and I'm a Gem rising. Same exact date and year of birth. I thought dxp was trolling me when I first saw his chart.
But on further discussion I discovered that he and I are 2 very different people.

I'm really starting to think you should try something like aikido or yoga, probably both, they emphasize harmony of spirit and mind there, you could alternate between one and another depending on mood, pretty sure you understand what I mean.
when you reach physical fitness and strength of spirit, you will be ready to start phase 2
also you be a part of a group while being a practitioner of those, and who knows, if you try, maybe make some friends.

we all have our weaknesses, yes for me that's easy, you know what's difficult for my gemini mars? to focus on one thing, I rather procrastinate that spend hours doing a single project, but sometimes there's no running around, I had to put a date and force myself to finish X thing no matter what it takes, knowing our weaknesses and committing to work on them is the only thing that brings progress.
