I am a cancer and I am very closed emotionally and I don't share stuff with other people unless I trust them. For me personally It gets very difficult to trust to the point of sharing emotions and it takes time, consistency and perseverance from the other person.
Just show patience and show empathy with little stuff.

You have to be really patient cause they won't share anything until they feel they can trust you or you can relate. So maybe start off with opening up to them but don't overdo it too. Build a strong connection

Thanks for sharing! The reason I want this person to open up is because I feel like i really dont know them beneath the surface. I have shared some personal stuff with this friend and I feel that they generally know me however, I don’t feel that way about them. I feel like it could hinder our connection and friendship.

Not really. I can see why you say that. But Scorp moons are 100000000000 times worse when it comes to opening up.
My cancer sun and bull moon bestfriend, he opened up within a month or two. Considered family to him in 3-4 months time.
My other cancer sun bestfriend (unsure of his moon), within 6 months, same thing.
My boyfriend, cancer sun and scorp moon? First real inner thought he shared was a year? Everything was surface. There are things I know about him, he has told me after 2 years, that his mom/dad/ex-wife/bestfriend have never even heard. The snail pace level of them opening up is on a whole different level.

Thats true, fact is, you can't force us to open up, we're only open with those we trust, my own father and mother know almost nothing about me because i don't trust them and don't open up to them even tho i'm saggie moon .

I have these placements. I don’t open up to anyone until I feel safe and comfortable. It helps if the other person is honest and open about their life and personality. Also helps when I know they won’t judge me for anything.

Only way to let them open up to you - is them feeling like they could trust you.
