Shadow thing watches me
I'm so happy my dreams involve just body slamming a humanoid form on a floating decrepit pirate ship above a raging storm in the middle of the sea which then gets angry, destroys the ship, making me fall into the sea where i obtain the ability to breathe underwater and it turns into a giant tentacle monster which i stab with my handy knife, dramatic escape from a space station infested by weird ass aliens and deteriorating life support systems (i saved some folks too), running from two dudes through town at night in winter shoes (very uncomfortable to run in), magically conjuring an 18th century sword in my hand with which i decide to spring a trap on my pursuers which in the end turned out to be a woman that i stuck my finger up her ass.

Yes... Actually more people than you could imagine experience that and there are many explanations based on people's beliefs. However I find one makes more sense than others.
6 months ago on a random my ex called me because her sister had seen one of those shadow creatures while awake in the corner of her room. She was terrified because she has no religion or spiritual background at all. So, they hadn't a clue what to do. If you'd like to know more message me on here. There are some things that shouldn't be randomly discussed online because what we learn in life we become accountable for that knowledge.
The most intelligent response yet to an experience like this is when you said "it is familiar". That is the nail on the head. The question is why would a shadow figure seem familiar and a normal occurrence to you. Almost like a friend??

I'm not very spiritual even though my family are.
Wait, when they called you what did you do?
Not at all. The only reason I was called was because my ex's sister was hysterical, and my ex was fully aware of my experiences in this life and she had been exposed to things she had never recognized prior to knowing me. I taught my ex to recognize spiritual influences.
I did what was asked of me. I explained to them how to rid themselves of it, and also how to permanently if they so desired. People often are open to suggestions when terrified, but they forget quickly in the comforts of their environments.
I'm not religious at all either, and to me astrology & readings are all religions too. I am though highly spiritual because I had to be in order to understand my life thus far.click to expand

The shadow— The shadow is not a person. The energy it gives is either neutral or ominous. Here's a warning, ignorance is bliss. I learned way too much about this stuff way too young. Just ask yourself this question prior to digging any deeper into this. What purpose would anything have watching a person secretly day after day, year after year??
The conclusion you reach from this simple question really could be all you need to know. Most people fear what they don't understand, but to understand such things that exist all around us is taking on responsibilities. It's the main reason I'm not providing the blatant answer to your questions on here. Also, anyone who would actually read this months after we discuss it would be exposed to it if I provide you with the answers on this post. Being a responsible adult means providing answers on a "need to know" basis. Who wants to have on their conscience making people accountable for things that they wouldn't fully understand? If it didn't attack me, or fill my mind with the horrific images of Hell the first thing I would think is "Cool! My very own shadow monster watching over me while I sleep!"
Some people have all the luck... My owl figurine is enough I guess. It creeps out majority of people who see it, but I love it watching me while I sleep. Look at it as a guardian, and do it a favor if you can. Some day you might need it or its deeper meaning more then you think.

Going with entity. I'm not afraid of it but it's always showed up in my dreams randomly. Last year was the only time I saw it almost every night.
