For everyone reading this menstruation is a natural bodily function all healthy women of reproductive age go through and is experienced differently by each woman.

I am 21 now and my periods have turned painful the last 1-2 years.

First and especially second day i am in severe lower abdomen pain, cant sleep, take painkillers every four hours ,lie pathetically in bed waiting to get better and so on.

So i work at a cafe for the past two months and my boss's moto is " Even dead you should come to work". Lol

His way of thinking is at least 30 years outdated and the working conditions are really poor as well as the salary... ( I study in a city that is more like a village in culture)

Anyway i called him to tell i am sick and can not go to work today and he responded offensively and derided me.

I responded back and stated i wont go.

I am kinda pissed off by his attitude now cause he has a wife and two teenage daughters who are apparently superior than the rest of us who are just insignificant workers-robots. I believe i handled the situation right.

I would like from women and men to share your experiences ,ways to deal in such situation and have a little discussion over this.

I have the same work ethic as your boss. In the industry, by not coming in, you’re hanging your co-workers out to dry. Customers still have needs to be met, they don’t have sympathy that you’re short staffed and usually tip less for their inconvenience.

Thankfully I’ve not had debilitating cramps since my teens, but I am becoming premenopausal. Start dates and end dates are hypothetical now and it’s gotten way heavier, but generally shorter? Backup is a must. That and extra strength ibuprofen.

It sucks, but sometimes you’ve gotta suck it up and rock it out anyway. 😕

Get an IUD. I haven’t had cramps or a real period in almost 10 years

Do you have the kind with or without hormones? If OP hasn't had children she might have a hard time finding a doctor to give her one. They're weird about that.

I have the 5 year one. I’ve got it twice now. And they’ve been giving it to people who haven’t had kids for years now. It’s not a requirement anymore.

Yes i understand but it depends on the person i am dealing with. This boss doesnt deserve to be treated well cause he doesn't respect me. Other than that i really couldn't work... there have been other times i have suck it up and go.

Yeah mine used to be pretty brutal. A combination of iron deficiency, and the toxic tampons playing havoc with my body.

Made the switch to sea sponges and will take cbd and thc to get through that 2nd-3rd day. Other wise its not to horrific.

Staying active helps, so rub one out or do some crunches. Flip turns in the pool is my go to.

I notice every other month its much more painful. So one of my ovarys is super mad a me or something.

I have the every other month too issue too. My left ovary is the bad one, my right is an angel.

I started free bleeding, made my ceanpa less, the flows are lighter and just oddly enough easier to deal with.

He sounds like a real tosser

Disrespectful and unrealistic......people get sick, we are not robots

Try and get out and find an employer who has the dignity to treat you in a respectful way

Good luck

Nice one👍. Just remember we are living in the 21st century and have come a long way with employment rights. Nobody has the right to treat you badly.
