Democracy mistyped flawed.
I'm open to other ways of looking at it though. Personally I feel you can't have a positive without negatives, and vice versa. I just want to become more open to a middle ground.

In that case, I'm surprised you even took the time out of your day to type the letter K, then click post.
many countries in the "western world" don't have this freedom of speech, you say something "insensitive" and you become a pariah, if you say something about the huge amount of illegals immigrants moving towards europe, you can even get fined.
so pretty much america, and you never know when that ends, and people might not have freedom to speak idiotic stuff, it doesn't mean they don't believe in those idiotic stuff anyway.
Posted by Arielle83You want more censorship?
Maybe it goes even deeper then censorship.
Maybe this thought of mine was so dark I wanted to give an example why a solution is impossible. Free speech is destructive, and taking it away is equally destructive. Resulting in a double ended sword. A null.
Maybe somewhere deep down I honestly believed someone would have an actual solution. A good counter to tell me why I'm wrong in some way. Stupid, I know.
Posted by Prince_PiscesIf it weren't for free speech then I wouldn't know who my enemies were, and that wouldn't be very exciting.

Nor would like 90% of us have anything to say on dxpnet lol.
I agree.
There is nothing that can be done besides change the person the speech is coming out of which is a personal decision that the masses cannot control, but maybe influence. However, influence on a larger scale creates the same problem because it's usually the wrong idea conconcted by one individual. Then you got Jim Jones all over again.
And even if it's the right idea, you'll have an equal amount of persons with the wrong idea fighting back. But then who's to say that either idea is the correct way to live if everyone has free will in the first place?
We have the freedom to create as well so even if you took away speech, it would just come out in some other form of invention. Good or evil.
More like the beginning of humanity because we mostly come from slavery anyway. Freedom is what gives us our humanity.
Otherwise we would all be a robots or slaves once again.
You must be kidding me.
"There was a time free speech was fine, back when people actually had sense. But now its out of control."
Most people didnt have sense back then either. There was just no easy platform (like today with all social media, forums, internet based platforms) where silly people can flaunt their stupidity
so it got out of control because they have the options to be heard with their mindless drivel which they pass off as a free speach
Edit: its quite harmless really, just attention seeking drunken drivel in most cases 🙂 the biggest jerks on the net are those who dont have anybody else to listen to them in a real life and have some issues 🙂
you should have applied your own advice OP

Free speech is one of the biggest flaws in most society's, especially in USA. There was a time free speech was fine, back when people actually had sense. But now its out of control. I know there are also a ton of flaws by eliminating free speech, which I'll try to get to.
With this type of freedom you get people like those who believe the earth is flat, people who think they are victims, and people who want to protest ridiculous ideas and opinions that make no fucking sense. To the point normal citizens want to literally snap and run them over. People can openly play the "Down on my luck" card and complain that everyone else needs to change rather then look themselves in the mirror and ask what they can do to change themselves. Then convince hundreds of other people they need to complain too rather then trying to convince people to actually do something with their lives. It's always someone elses fault right? It wasn't you. You didn't sit there for 10 years and cry about your shitty life. Everyone else "forced" you to fail yourself.
This is a huge problem in human progression. I also understand the idea of taking away free speech is just as crazy. It will just lead to the same types of problems, but on the other side of the spectrum. Now you have hundreds of people truly oppressed from venting pent up feelings, and the fact they can't speak will make them lash out in violence due to no outlet.
So where is the middle ground? We can't just continue to let people speak idiotic ideas that others may think are fact, thus killing their inner drive and willpower to progress. I see too many people say something like "You are a black America, and because you that you are powerless. You will never have control over your life, and will never be anything." So rather then actually try, just blame everyone else and continue to fail." The worst part is its people that think they are actually doing a good thing telling mass amounts of people this. Yet at the same time we can't just silence people with deep personal problems. So what do we do? Genocide aside.
This is exactly how Trump feels

Then what do you think the solution(s) are to your problem?
Freedom of speech doesn't absolve you from consequences.

That's the point, I don't know. Just not listening to people or letting it bother me would be the best bet right? To act like they don't exist anymore. I have the freedom to do that just as they have to freedom to fuck people over mentally by the hundreds. But those hundreds get the freedom to let themselves get fucked over.
And in the end keeping quite will still piss people off. Then it will be "Oh, so you like to pretend the problem doesn't exist?" I bet you think the solution is to sit back and do nothing too."
I'm just a little frustrated is all.

Wouldn't this be the opposite of how trump feels? Wouldn't he rather say crazy opinionated stuff to people, and tweet crazy stuff just as much?
Silencing peoples opinions and beliefs is the most liberal thing one could do.

Resource depletion and environmental degradation will end humanity long before anything else.
Amen to this...👍
Free speech is the end of humanity?
Try telling that to thousands of kids who were abused by Catholic Priests and had to keep their mouths shut or they would "go to hell"... and thousands of women who felt dumbed down after being raped because they feared not being believed...
It's a gift....and one that should always have been available to everyone

No, actually Trump would feel how you are because of the stuff people carelessly and wickedly say. What he says may seem crazy, but not if you compare to the stuff said about him. He gets treated very badly, for example when he achieves something people will respond with blatant hypocrisy.
Now I can easily see you aren't a big fan of Trump, but as someone who follows politics I can tell you he can relate to what you are saying. If you don't believe me click on his last tweet and read all of the replies. Btw he's doing everything he promised, but we can say this argument for the politics forum.

It is a gift in that aspect, and can't argue with that.

Free speech still enables all of that though.
Resource depletion should be the easiest to fix. The legislation has the most control over it, and could change anything they want to waste less resources. Its just getting the right people in there. Ones who aren't so humanitarian we become a 3rd world country by choice, or one who isn't so dumb we become 3rd world country from waste.
Religion is the hard part. Trying to change or manipulate religion starts the most wars, thus throwing us back decades in progression.
Freedom of speech and thought matters, especially when it is speech and thought with which we disagree. The moment the majority decides to destroy people for engaging in thought it dislikes, thought crime becomes a reality.

Spoken like somebody who's never actually lived in a country without free speech.
