Good Anime?

I'm looking for a decent anime to watch. I got started in anime as a kid, when I watches a special on Stars tv. It was a Studio Ghibli movie called "Princess Mononoke". It was insanely good. I still enjoy watching it to this day. On a bigger note, everything Ghibli puts out is gold! It's like japanese Disney. I try and watch other anime, but like 99% of it all is just trash. Bunch of googley eyed ho's, whimpy 15 year old MCs who somehow become a god at the end of their show with no effort from themself, or ( the most annoying one) big old bouncy titties, and panty peaks with no other substance. Can't stand them. Now there are a few I've found... most noteably being the Berserk series. It's like the Game of Thrones of anime. Anyway, you know what I'm inclined towards, and what I hate, which is most anime. I'm just wondering if anyone knows any other good watches from the anime world. Also, just feel free to share anime you've liked

You'll find it hard not to find 'trash' anime purely because of production cost of a anime series vs feature.

That said there are a lot of great OVAs (just remember most of these have running series but I'm mostly referring to OVAs)

- Space Pirate Captain Herlock

- Vampire Hunter D

- Samurai X

- Paprika

- The Boy and the Beast

- Howl's Moving Castle

- Sword of the Stranger

- 5 Centimeters Per Second

- Castle in the Sky

- Kizumonogatari

Yeah I dunno I that's all I can think off the top of my head. Some of them might not be exact titles and the only series that I sat through were eva + Kizumonogatari (Monogatari by series + few other names) the arcs are sligth and follow different characters all dealing with very different issues + different art style s.

SOME might look like that standard anime look but I don't think I linked anything that would be considered standard such as Nanatsu no Taizai, Bleach, Naruto etc etc. Most of them I either enjoyed for the story, the subject matter or the animations.

death note is an anime that is particularly liked by girls. All the people who talk about it are female, I don't know any boy that really is a fan, but all girls seem to be for some reason.

It's the same with FMA but to a lower extent.

It's a bit of a mystery to me because most of the protagonists are male. I tried watching but they just talk all the time apparently and the universe/story is not really my cup of tea. But my 40+ ex wife was a huge fan of both.

@hydorah you are old man, I know tons of boys that are fan of death note, also I don't even recall of one anime that more boys watch than girls and vice versa, this generation is kinda balanced in genders

Fate Zero is probably the best anime ever made

that's a very fancy way to spell YUYU HAKUSHO.

But yes, yuyu hakusho is the best anime ever made, the author never managed to recover and his new franchise hxh is a mess.

They should have closed japan after YYH was over because they will never top that.

I watched it a while ago and it's beautiful. I'm not really into that kind of mellow drama story, but the anime touching me, it got me teary eyed like a bitch.

I'm also watching some show about an invincible japanese soldier who befriends a native japanese girl and they try and find this treasure, but they need a map and the map is tattooed on like 20 different peoples body, so they have to either skin them or get them to cooperate

Just checked, it's called "Golden Kamuy.". It's not too bad in it being dark, nothing like Berserk, but it's still a good anime. Also, you got me thinking about dark anime, check out "requiem for the phantom." Extremely good story, and ending is sadly elegant. Lol, just to inform, Ghibli had a new movie come out called "Red Turtle" and that's extremely good too. I watch all these on 9anime if anyone wonders what I use

yoshiaki kawajiri/studio madhouse was producing the best dark/adult animes during the 90s. They had some great oldschool 80s- style cyberpunks animes. Cyber city oedo was my favorite.

I don't know what they're up to these days, it seems they have gone mainstream.

Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is really good, A lot of the ones I watch have already been mentioned. Like Naruto, Full Metal Alchemist, etc plus a lot of romantic ones Anyways it was made by the people who made AOT I just really loved the main characters. Ikoma and Mumei are really awesome
