Posted by AstrobynI used to live on the coast here, for any hurricane, that is what they ask the public, who choose to stay, to do.
Apparently the mayor of Rockport, Texas 8s telling anyone who didn't evacuate, to write there name an social security number on there arm with a sharpe to identify the dead 😐

Posted by Wineaux15Texas Gov is praising Trump's response. He released federal funds days ago. It usually takes longer.
Maybe I'm tripping, but isn't such a huge natural disaster such as this one supposed to get national help? We've used a lot of local resources in Houston to get the help all of us who need it. However, I haven't heard Trump address or the nation send help for us.... and it's bad. I think Trump sent out a tweet about it, but we are so far beyond tweets.

Posted by SolesanYou live in the east coast now right? Now you got Irma to think about.
Im glad I don't live in Houston anymore. Though I am concerned for my buddies down there. But I feel everything gonna be ok.
Posted by GetMistedThank you. I'm so thankful. However someone close to me (a child) lost their life in the flood.Posted by Wineaux15You alright?

Everyone is trying to make it political but Trump's response has actually exceeded expectations and
been much quicker than previous administrations. He certainly beat Bush's response to Katrina.
Are you in the flood zone? Please stay safe.click to expand
Posted by Fun4LifeYou stay in Houston?Posted by Deedee86Excellent post DeeDee. Federal law states the US government can not come in and take control of relief and rescue unless requested, and authority relinquished by local (state/municipal) government. They bitched about Bush flying over Katrina damage, and they'll bitch about Trump if he lands in Houston. They can't help themselves.Posted by Wineaux15Texas Gov is praising Trump's response. Hi DeeDee,
Thank you I'm ok. With all due respect, I'd have to respectfully agree to disagree. Yes, Govenor Abbot said that, and he may have felt that way. However, Trump came Tuesday. The flooding and rain had began to stop on Tuesday. The flooding and rain began on the previous Friday. I truly feel like there was a delayed response... not even just coming to Houston, but addressing or sending help until later down then line. Once he did come and the National Guard came it did help a lot. I posted that messsge I believe two days before we received that help though, so my viewpoint might be slightly different, but I stand by what I say that his response was delayed. Most of our initial help came from neighboring states like Louisiana and volunteers in our own city. Remember I'm the one staying here so I truly know what this feels like. From outsiders looking in watching the news I feel like it's unfair and skewed because your viewpoint isn't the same. Even our news reporters in Houston were questioning when we'd hear from him. Really wasn't trying to make into what some people made it into. I appreciate you being respectful about it.

Yes I made a thread of it. First major hurricane for in a while now that hit the USA. While Texas is getting thrashed. I hope those who lived where it's making landfall got out safely. If you didn't evacuate, then good luck surviving that. Best of all makes me wonder how Donald Trump would handle all of this. After all this is a potential major disaster event on his hands.
