It's funny, you're probably the 4th person to ask me this question this week. I like to play the "guess the Asian" game in my own head when I first meet people so here are some clues I've come up with.

It's pretty easy to differentiate Indians and East Asian people, so I'm not going to include Indians here because that's obvious.

For guys, I usually know they're Japanese or Filipino based on if they have the ability to grow a beard. Almost all other Asian races cannot grow a beard. If there's a beard, it's one of those two. Now to differentiate between those two, it's eye size and skin tone. Filipinos have some spanish in them, so usually, they've got rounder eyes and darker skin tones. Japanese guys tend to have shinier, fuller hair, and very pale skin. The same applies with their women, minus the beard clue.

Chinese and Taiwanese people tend to have really flat facial features. Usually you can spot that by looking at the side of their face. If the top bridge of their noses just barely has a indentation from their forehead, they're usually Chinese or Taiwanese. Chinese people's eyes vary in size for the most part and skin tone can also vary, but they don't tend to be dark, however they can range from very pale to not pale at all.

Korean's have high cheek bones and usually have smaller sharper eyes compared to the rest of the Asians. They also tend to be taller. I think Koreans are usually easier to spot. They have a certain cheek structure and I can notice it when they smile. They also seem to have thinner hair too.

Southeast Asians are way harder to differentiate for me. Indonesians, Thai, Singaporean, and Malaysians, I've rarely come in contact with but when I do, they look like Filipinos but without the spanish influence and more Asian looking. Haven't seen any of them with beards though, but they're usually darker.

Vietnamese people, I spot from their language because it's one of the whiniest sounding languages in the world (my mom speaks it). They look like light skinned Cambodians with some Chinese influence. And Cambodians are usually darker as well, we look like tanned Vietnamese folks with a slight potential Indian influence.

Lol! Patel is Ands's favorite Indian last name.

Like I said, India is too diverse Lisa.. Religiously, Culturally,Linguistically n Regionally. Not a single other nation has that diversity. There's no particular definite feature you can look for. Skin color wouldn't get you anywhere with them. Because ppl can be as fair as whites n as dark as blacks.

This ad should kinda explain what I'm trying to say

And that still doesn't do any justice.

I don't know if there's any giveaway.

That girl in the picture sure doesn't look mixed tho.

I mean not all Filipino's can grow beards, but some can and that in itself is a rarity for Asian dudes. It depends on their genetics in regards to their hair though from my experiences, it's not as full or shiny.

i disagree but i'm too lazy to discuss how people look

you should travel to each country in instead of basing on people you see in your area. older generations look very different from the younger ones
