If you're friends with someone and find them attractive , would you find yourself able to maintain a purely platonic relationship?

Lol? As if it's up to /you/ whether you get to be more than that with the other person?

Well it is, isn't it? It's a harsh reality but I genuinely polarize my intent in a way that I'm either trying to mate or try again elsewhere. I have my friends to talk about platonic things and woman I find attractive for their feminine energy. This is why I have trouble realizing why people maintain friendships with their exes unless I'm just ignorant. Anyways, I was just wondering for the sake of perspective what other people thought lol.

That’s hard as hell. If I find a lady friend of mines attractive, I’m gonna flirt with her and say all kinds of things to get in those panties. I could maintain a friendship with the opposite sex while having casual sex though. No biggie for me.

Amen brother LOL

I would. I've done it for years.

How do you feel after all these years? No disrespect, I feel like if I were in your shoes I would reflect on a lot of wasted time and try finding someone else that would appreciate you.

Yes. It's possible if they're in their 20s and not ready to settle down. Make sure boundaries are clear and they have non committal placements like venus sextile uranus.

Asking men to restrict their boundaries is like prevent mankind from reaching space (lol I'm playing). Friendships shouldn't require boundaries though if purely platonic, don't you agree?

I'm not sure, we've had "moments" that almost led to sex but I ignored them. For the most part we are just really good friends. Even went on a double date to try and get my friend laid. Sometimes it's more like a "cousin thing" then a sexual thing. It's hard to explain. click to expand

So wait.. do you normally find your male cousins attractive lol/jk? How does your male friend feel about this, have you ever asked him?

Lol I assume this is the question for guys.

Nope, you're wrong. It actually confuses me why most woman get offended when their ex isn't willing to be a friend after a mutual break up. click to expand

Really, why? Sooo offended. click to expand

You must be special then. I take that back :p click to expand

No, I am offended too. So why not be friends after mutual break up? Lol click to expand

After being romantically involved at one point, eventually, I would think about having sex. I know myself better than anyone else and I don't think you're supposed to feel that way with "just" friends lmaoo.

Yes I can

I've always had male friends/bestfriends. I really don't know how I/we managed to keep everything on a platonic level but I guess once a friendship is established I only see them as sort of brothers I can hang out with and I'm sure it's vice versa.

Also people have to set boundaries. I'm not gonna put myself in a situation where he and I might end up in bed.

Maturity also play a huge role.

I never said I couldn't have maintain fulfilling friendships with woman though. I have many female friends but none I have sexual attraction to. Have you ever had a friend you thought was attractive, yet, you kept as just a friend?

If you're having sex, that's crossing the line of friendship. You don't need boundaries for friends but for sex, you have to make it clear that it's just sex with no potential for relationship. You also need to ve open about feelings and if someone starts catching feels, if it's not mutual, you have to end the sex bit. click to expand

So if you caught feelings for your guy friend and he's like you gotta chill it's it mutual. What is your next move?

Okay this makes sense. I have dated woman I was attracted to at first and then because of "something" it would change my opinion of them. I wouldn't stay friends with them after though :/

I had a guy catch feels so i told him we can't have sex anymore. Then we only hung out in a group. No more one on one but everyone grew up and went their own ways so we kind of drifted apart. Still Facebook friends and talk if we bump into each other but it's like acquaintances. The problem is, when someone gets a gf or bf, the fwb stops being in the picture. You eventually lose that friendship click to expand

Holy shit I'm dying, this same thing has actually happened to me. Literally everything related and played out exactly. That being said, the fact you guys could only hang in a group would make it more of a forced interaction. You have to like being around someone to have a meaningful friendship though :p

A man who stays around a woman purely for "friendship" is either gay, completely out of touch with his instincts/feelings or self-deluded as hell.

lol

every guy in college i have met..

i love their company

but i dont want them romantically.

but wow they really love to be with me. cause why they drive miles and miles to be with me or wait for me..

i was really appreciative of it though.

maybe some guys find some girls very nice company.

even if they know they aren't gonna be "more"...

i used to think it's cruel to be around them.

I've done it, yes.

That's what I thought too in my 20's.

Time tends to take care of our self-delusions, though. click to expand

I think most of the women here would like to think that their best male friend just isn't like all the other man-pigs around and that somehow he doesn't look like that at her. click to expand

Having sexual interest for a female (in this case a "female friend") does not make a man a pig. Our only true and deepest desire as species is to survive, aka reproducing aka having sex.

Haha

I choose not to have a friend who takes sneaky sly glances (or sometimes overt stares) at my breasts and arse

lol

some are really good at not doing that.

they probably are gay and just wanna have a cool female gal pal.

I'm not sure many men have the discipline and willpower not to look at women's breasts and arse when talking to them

I've met a few that don't.....but they are few and far between

Nowt wrong in looking ... we all do it, but not when engaged in conversation. I shamed some by staring down at my boobs when I saw them looking then threw them a look as if to say "and........"

🙄🙄🙄
