Since when is giggling a "sex sound"?

You don't "giggle" when your partner pleases your pussy then, i take it

No, why would you? To sound girly?

Many times when a female child experiences sexual abuse for the first time, they will giggle or say it tickles as a reaction. The way I know this is from going through this myself when I was younger and being explained how it was NOT okay when going through therapy from the traumatic experience.

That's disgusting to say a child experiencing sex abuse would giggle!

You are disgusting and have no clue about reality.

Her response to my post just shows how clueless she is.. 🙄

The audacity of telling people how they react in that situation. 🙄🙄

Surely all children molested in this world behaved exactly the same way, since that's how you did.

You are highly deluded.

No, you are. Not all children react the same but giggles, nervousness, crying, and laughter isn’t uncommon.

Can you please quote the source of your information that children react with giggles to sexual abuse.

How do you think children react?

I feel disgust to associate child molesting and giggles in one sentence. Don't you? It's diminishing the distress that these children are suffering.

That's not what they meant though.

Who are you talking about? That is what I said and meant, so could you please explain why they are attacking me?

Here's what she posted that you've actually quoted here:

"Many times when a female child experiences sexual abuse for the first time, they will giggle or say it tickles as a reaction. The way I know this is from going through this myself when I was younger and being explained how it was NOT okay when going through therapy from the traumatic experience."

Your claim of "diminishing distress" rings hollow when you're actively trying to discredit her own trauma.

I see what are you saying. The association of giggles and sex abuse still disgusts me, though. I'm not discrediting her experience, I'm just having a normal reaction to associating distress and giggles.

Can you please quote the source of your information that children react with giggles to sexual abuse.

https://www.amherstma.gov/1000/Common-Reactions-to-a-Sexual-Assault

“Survivors can experience a wide variety of emotions, and every person has their own way of dealing with difficult emotions. Right after a sexual assault, many people are in shock. The survivor may appear to be calm, composed, and subdued. Some people express their feelings outwardly by crying, shaking, yelling or even laughing. Often, the survivor is confused and disoriented, and has difficulty answering questions, remembering details or understanding new information.”

This goes for both adults and children.

Flo shared her own experience to try and explained it to you.

People react differently and as for children, they're still learning their environment such as how to respond to a particular situation. The risk of these inappropriate toys is conditioning (as Phoenix mentioned) children to form the same reaction regardless of the situation, oblivious to what is right and wrong.

There was an article from years ago that stood out where staff from a daycare centre sexually abused children. The article mentioned that these abusers would tell children to touch the "elephant".

You feel disgust about two words in one sentence? Well you should feel disgust to the whole experience in total. Place your focus on the fact that somewhere right now in the world, there’s a child being abused and all you care about is the explaination of giggles.

I'm sorry if you thought it was a reaction to your experience. It wasn't.

It was a general thought about a traumatic event that should NOT be associated with a response to positive events. I don't WANT to think of children giggling when I think of sexual abuse. Is it clear now?

This is so true.

I’m not proud to admit it but my sisters and I giggled at our grandmas funeral. I also laughed when my childhood friends mom told me that he had been killed 🤦🏼‍♀️ I cringe just thinking about it. But it was an involuntary, nervous response. Nothing was funny about it obviously.

I have done the same, its a kneejerk emotional reaction and even more prevelant in kids as they’ve not yet learned to surpress the feeling.

Anyone who has children or worked with them will know this

Children do not know or undertsand how to act. Espcially not in a way many adults would deem normal. Children are innocent and will be uncomfortable and react in odd ways to something that is unknown. Until they are no longer innocent and are broken.

So please stop with this back n forth that child abuse vicitims would repond XYZ. Unless you yourself are a vicitim, you have no clue what you are going on about.

Because like others said, it comes across as being dismissive. I do believe you when you say that wasn’t your intention. Some things, you need to look at objectively though. It’s about perspective. It’s not only about what you’re looking at but where you’re looking FROM and if you have not been in those shoes, you really can’t speak on what’s expected or appropriate as a response.

Where I'm coming FROM, I kicked balls. Hard. I'm not expecting every girl to do the same, and certainly I wasn't vilifying the dxpers for giggling as molested children!

However, they are adults now, and mothers of daughters. I hope that they tell their minor daughters that if someone touches them between the legs, even as a tickle, they need to stop giggling, kick their balls hard and run. Even if that person is mummy's boyfriend, or the "nice" uncle.

It was about giggles and my sentence that "That's disgusting to say a child experiencing sex abuse would giggle!" Do not digress to something I did not say. Yes, I still find it disgusting. Don't you?

Every female I know, and I know tons- including myself, who was molested fucking giggled. You shouldn’t talk about things you don’t know. I’ve always liked you but in this you need to sit down.

Since when is giggling a "sex sound"?

Maybe I’m just trying to give benefit of the doubt, but to me it sounds like they’re sounds meant to make kids associate being touched down there with unhappy sounds. Like to me the sound effects sound more shocked, especially if a kid doesn’t know what sex even is.

I think adults might be misconstruing it because the characters voice is already high pitched, so for it to be making shocked sounds some might hear sexual sounds since we already associate genitals with sex.

Flo shared her own experience to try and explained it to you.

People react differently and as for children, they're still learning their environment such as how to respond to a particular situation. The risk of these inappropriate toys is conditioning (as Phoenix mentioned) children to form the same reaction regardless of the situation, oblivious to what is right and wrong.

There was an article from years ago that stood out where staff from a daycare centre sexually abused children. The article mentioned that these abusers would tell children to touch the "elephant".

Again...what I said is that I felt disgust with associating giggles and sexual abuse in one sentence.

I think we need to leave it here, it's getting ridiculous.

But it’s not about you so step outside of your feelings for a second.

I'm trying to understand why I seemed to be have offended feelings with a general remark.

You think every child will be like you?

If you were a fiesty girls good for you .

Some children are more introverted n passive not aggressive, even if parents tell them to kick them by the balls

You got adult women freezing when they been victims let alone expecting it from a child.

Or aggressive girls freeze in the moment or passive girls fight back. Or sometimes girls get killed by fighting back and some survive by fighting back.

It’s impossible to say how you will react and if it happens multiple times in different circumstances you may have one person having multiple reactions.

There is no formula for protection. You can teach whatever you want but the best parenting is teaching boundaries and keeping an open line of communication.

We are all doomed in the end anyway. Doomed in our short lifetime so what is the point even? The only solution is to let it go and hope life doesn't fuck everything up for you personally somehow.

Thats the feeling I get when I read 99% of everything in this thread. A bunch of people complaining, no solutions, and all your rage and disgust won't change anything. It doesn't matter how much you cry, protest, or bring darkness to the light. It all ends the same. You are doomed to whatever the fuck life wants to throw at you.

This is why I don't have or want kids. Its truly better off if we don't exist, or at least exist as a few million rather then 8 billion.

There is also beauty in shutting up and going outside for a bit to reflect. Feel lucky we still have an outside even. Some could say there is beauty in perfect control and perfect symmetry too. Bottom line is you have 8 billion other fucking people who aren't you. All ranging from normal to twisted. So I do agree venting how pissed you are and knowing it will do nothing to truly change this reality is healthy. Its all you really have here at this point.

For the women who ganged against me for saying that I found the association between giggles and sexual abuse disgusting:

Why didn’t you come forward to explain what YOU did to protect your child from falling –giggling!—into the arms of a sexual predator? One in three girls and one in six boy are being sexually abused! Or even to prevent them from having their genitals exposed and touched by another child? Or your child from touching somebody else’s genitals? There is a fascination children have with their genitals and anus…they are different, they are mysterious, they produce poo and pee, they are dirty and need to cleaned….

For those who said that I’m a feisty girl…I was an tiny, introverted and shy child. From a young child age, I’ve been told by my relatives, repeatedly and seriously, that if someone is pulling my pants down and/or touches my genitals or bottom, I have to kick them hard, scream, attract other people attention, run and tell my mum! Is that what you trained your children to do?

If you did, why are you so hysterical *holly fucking Jesus Christ* about a giggling doll? Do you think your child will forget what they’ve learned from you, because some doll is giggling (when sitting)? Do you seriously believe that....—?

If you didn’t, why not? How difficult is to tell a child that their genitals are not to be touched, and what to do if that happens?

Honestly, I think its time you left this thread alone. Some of your replies were making me physically ill yesterday

You have NO right to say what reaction is disgusting or not. What is disgusting is some grown up touching a child, you should have focused on that. How dare you try to diminish what her or any other victims response to this sort of thing would be. Its not for you to question what someones coping mechanism is.

User Submitted Image

You make me sick reading this. The delusional one here is you.

User Submitted Image

Her SOURCE? excuse me, how about her being a fucking survivor. A young girl who had to go through this shit and despite it all turn into a beautiful, strong, independent woman! who still has the balls to share her experience with us and here you are, questioning how she "reactions". Its fucking disgusting, and you should be ashamed of yourself. I even read her post where she says she regrets opening up to us, because YOU made her feel shit about it. @Wildd_Flo don't you ever feel this way. Anybody and or someone can read about your bravery and in turn give them the strenght you had to share what happened and hopefully heal from it.

Image Not Found

No honey, you doing that all on your own, right here, for us all to witness.

User Submitted Image

BULLSHIT - You vilifying her and her reaction. There is no right or wrong way to react and who the hell are you to question how anyone copes with what they are going through.

User Submitted Image

Are you even comfortable the way you treated her, shame on YOU.

User Submitted Image

The only "disgusting" thing here is people who do this sort of stuff in the first place, and YOUR instance to continue to call her out, like some dog who cant let go of a bone.

User Submitted Image

Did you even consider how you may have offended her, for sharing her story. DOUBTFUL.

Yeah I saw that. Tons of cartoons are fucked up too. I don’t ban anything since she will see it anyway somewhere, but I trash it in front of her so she would be prepared. Like Barbie cartoons, all they do is fight with each other and talk how to marry a prince. And they are all skinny and ballerinas, and dumb af.

I would post a pic for you to see, but can’t compromise kid’s identity, 10 girls from my daughter’s preschool, all have sexy stare, except for my kiddo and her best friend.

people have been complaining about TV programs literally since TV exists.

As for little girls, on every generation some people have complained that parents were dressing their little girls like sluts (which is true BTW).

I bet y'all have looked like mini sluts in your time. It's just the way of the world.

Upon first reading this headline I was thinking oh brother, we’re finding something else to be offended by...it’s probably nothing and says more about the people who are interpreting it that way, etc

But then when I saw there is a button on the chest AND a button between the legs (which I’ve never seen before in my life) I was actually shocked

How in the hell ?

Does Hasbro not have QC?

Who puts a toy out like that?

I don’t care what noises it makes ...why is there a button there? There’s already a button on its chest that makes it sing and talk

As rabbit said, their products are made in China (shifting towards India and Vietnam). The chances of this being a QC fuck up are pretty high, especially with COVID happening.

I don't agree with mini sluts, but every generation it's generally the mothers dressing their daughters like mini-mes and teaching them the slutty ways. You can internet outrage all you want but this fact has been talked about in the 90s,80s,70s. I suppose it goes back further. People have always complained about little girls looking slutty.

IDK why all the karens in this thread assume I'm okay with it when they generally are the ones doing it.

How original 🙄🙄 a man blaming women for how he perceives children as sexual objects. You cannot shift the blame for your thoughts and perception of young girls based on how they are dressed.

That sounds an awful lot like the tired, "What were you wearing... if your skirt was longer you wouldn't have been raped".

And I don't even know what to do with your "teaching them the slutty ways". The literal definition of slut, is a a woman who has many sexual casual encounters. So what your asserting is its alright for you to look at a child and sexualize them based on the way they are dressed because they are learning from their mother to have casual sexual encounters? Like wtf dude.

You got issues.

Stop viewing children as sexual objects.

Stop blaming children and their parents for your gross perceptions and urges.

There are also two other things to consider:

There's only limited space available on that toy, it's almost inevitable a button would be placed someplace questionable

And

It's also highly likely it's a rework of an already existing toy design distributed in other countries where those areas or those noises don't have the same context.

I want to thank you for being such a caring friend and sweetie. I’ve grown through the pain, and as an adult now I’m somewhat rough around the edges but in a good way. Therapy has helped, although in my case, it will be needed forever due to other personal complications.

I’ve learned from the past, as a similar occurrence almost happened to me two years ago and I threatened to kill a man because of it. It was scary but, it gave me peace to know I’m strong enough to defend myself. No one will ever fck with my daughter and I WILL make sure of that.

No flo. Dont thank me. You thank yourself and be proud. Its you who was forced to walked this path and come out the other side of it the woman you are. It will always be difficult and wounds like these can so easily be scratched open by the slightest of words or actions. Be proud of you, we are!

As for little girls, on every generation some people have complained that parents were dressing their little girls like sluts (which is true BTW).

I bet y'all have looked like mini sluts in your time. It's just the way of the world.

Wow this is so problematic.

The fact you look at little girls and based on how they are dressed view them as sluts!? Wtf.

Even completely naked children are children and their nakedness is not fetishized as being sexual...except by pedophiles.

I'm going to give benefit of doubt and say he was talking about parents who dress their daughters too mature for their age. There was a furore way back when stores were caught selling sexualised clothing in the little girls department. That's a thing, it happens.

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2010/apr/16/children-clothing-survey-bikini-heels

I'm going to disagree with you there.

A 5 year old in a bikini and heels and a full face of makeup is still a 5 year old. No sane person looking at that child would see an adult.

Clothes alone =/= sexualization/sexual objectification

Its peoples behavior and using someones clothing, mannerisms, and appearance in general as a reason to sexual objectify children (and women).

Associating appearance with sexuality is problematic, especially when it comes to children.

I was a swim instructor and life guard for over a decade. A little girl wearing a bikini is not any less appropriate than a little boy in swim trunks with his chest and nipples exposed. Why is one socially acceptable while the other is used as an excuse to sexualize said child?

The answer is simple... women are viewed as a sum of body parts, always sexually available, and whose value lies in how sexy they look to boys and men. By transmitting that same thought process to a child though early sexualisation through appearance there are implications for incidents of sexual harassment and violence.

Again, problematic line of thought.

I really can't understand the mindset of someone spending their time trying to draw less attention to sexual abuse of children in powerful institutions worldwide, especially with this recent Epstein shit. I mean we literally have the president of the United States sending well wishes to Ghislane Maxwell while under investigation for sex trafficking minors. We have ex-president Bill Clinton flying to Epstein's island. Reality gas already jumped the shark, just let it happen. Who cares if an actor you like got accused of it, pedophila runs rampant in Hollywood too. Fuck your stupid partisan wars defending republican/democrat pedophiles because you're stupid enough to believe these aren't moral-less mass murdering psychopaths only in it for the money and themselves. They can send corporate mercenaries to rape and execute a whole ass suspected communist sympathizing village, but nah they couldn't be abusing their power and sexually abusing children, no way. Believe all women but not all children I guess huh

Anyway

That’s a huge fuck up

Also, did the designer think they were being funny or??

I shouldn’t be surprised though considering all the shit they sneak into children’s movies

Read Rabbit's commentary on the matter.

Most of what is snuck into Disney movies are jokes by the artists and they've admitted as much. Most adults don't even realize that they are there until someone points it out. It goes back as far as Bambi and those Steamboat Mickey Mouse precursor cartoons.

Adults in Western society are and always have been preoccupied with sex and will infer or attach sexuality to just about anything. This isn't news.

But the logical leap one needs to make to link a guy drawing a dick in a Little Mermaid movie poster and a globalist cabal of pedophiles grooming children to be sex slaves is a pretty big one.

Oh I don’t buy the pedo ring conspiracies either but do think the doll’s coochie button is inappropriate

And mostly I guess I just can’t believe that it passed and was put on shelves. Like is their QC department one person ? Seems to me there would be more than several steps involved in designing, producing, and then shelving and selling a product like that.

How many people looked at that and were like “yep all good”

Little Mermaid the film is so different from the book which was actually a cautionary tale and they completely removed any of that to make it romantic.

Eric is dumb as shit anyway.

I loved that movie as a small child because of the songs and stuff but growing up I hate it a lot.

I've never even seen it. I hate most Disney.

I think it was callous the way he expressed his point. That there's always been a stigma around little girls being taught to dress and act like grown women. The projections surrounding the appearance of children however is suspect I agree. But in the end retailers were forced to pull items that were considered too raunchy for children, which means there was/is a market for this kind of fashion in the first place. Meaning it's an accepted form of socialisation if brands feel comfortable enough to produce and market such garments towards kids. I think that's what he was getting at but his language was inappropriate for this kind of discussion.

I had edited my post around the same time you quoted. But the addition addressed some of this...

"I was a swim instructor and life guard for over a decade. A little girl wearing a bikini is not any less appropriate than a little boy in swim trunks with his chest and nipples exposed. Why is one socially acceptable while the other is used as an excuse to sexualize said child?

Touché. For those who don't know it's a crossover with a Dr. Manhattan meme with a similar theme. And that character appears naked. But, my posts are in the context of this doll thread so I guess there's a little irony there. I didn't specify, but what I'm ranting about are the people who turn a blind eye to the actual rampant pedophilia and child trafficking worldwide. I don't have any strong beliefs about this doll. It's weird as fuck and maybe there's some sketchy shit going on there. Whether there is or not, it's clearly a huge issue that lots of people go out of their way to downplay or deny despite the endless powerful institutions infested with pedophiles

I just think this doll fiasco is a product of cheap, overseas labor.. and nothing deeper than that.

Most likely scenario is as with most toy manufacturers, Hasbro sent the specs to a factory in China, and the Chinese worker in charge of setting up the machines and is making "not enough money to deal with this shit" just put the sensor/button/switch wherever there was space in the toy. In house QC (also making not enough money to give a shit) just checked the sensor worked and shipped them out. Hasbro may or may not have inspected them on receipt and if they did, it was too late to do anything about it, so they just sent them on for sale. It's a far more plausible explanation with the fewest number of assumptions made.

That being said, whoever thought that making a toy that giggled or made noises when you touched it in any way was a good idea in this day and age probably needs to be fired.

Barely making my way through the thread so someone may have already pointed this out...

The company came out and said it was aware of the design and placement of the button. This wasn't a manufacturing mistake.

Hasbro spokeswoman Julie Duffy told CNN in a statement that “this feature was designed to react when the doll was seated, but we recognize the placement of the sensor may be perceived as inappropriate.”

Hmm. Well I retract my statement that I accept it could of been a mistake then. I cant stand people calling it a sensor though. Are sensors not infrared type of stuff? This is a button, that you push, between her legs. Even if you sit her down, how would this "activate" the button in the first place?🤔

Just locating a interactive button between a female gendered toy doll is an issue in an of itself. The noises they paired with it add a whole nother layer.

And I don't buy the 'manufacturing error excuse' either. It might be plausible if there was 1 button on the doll. But there is 2. Why would you add an additional button and unique sound packages if the order was for 1 button, 1 sound package? That wouldn't be a 'I'm not paid enough to gaf' mistake. That's actually adding a significant amount of work, parts/molds, and time to assemble.

Hasbro doesn't design their toys past the stage of the appearance/cosmetics. This is a fairly standard practice with any sort of overseas manufacturing where the company itself doesn't own the factory, and most of them do not. They contact out with third party factories. If Hasbro approved the design where the doll made noises when it was set down, they have the overseas factory work out the logistics of how to make that happen. I know this because my cousin and I are involved in having products made overseas now.

As far as how sensitive the sensor or the button is, without having one to look at personally, we simply can't make that determination. A YouTube video can't accurately show the amount of force needed to activate the sensor. It could literally only take gently putting the toy down in a seated position. In which case actively poking that particular area would also set off the sensor.

It's obvious that someone, somewhere didn't think the design of the toy through, whether it was Hasbro itself and them not providing clear instructions or whether it was the actual manufacturer itself not realizing the context in which the sensor could be viewed.

I'm not sure what you mean by a first of such a design.

If it's listed on the packaging that the toy makes noises, maybe they felt that was enough. Remember the packaging is done overseas as well.

Sorry I meant first of such a design, as in having a button/sensor in that particular location on the toy.

The box only mentions the tummy button not that she would make "noises" if you place her in a seated position.
