So you think its right what the government is currently doing to the youth? Our government made over 100 billion through interest on student loans in 2015 😱

The cost of attending a university is the highest its ever been, and it continues to grow.

That's pretty much what I thought. He's promising free stuff, but my question is, how is he going to pay for it?
Specifically on the "free college", there would be a tax on each stock or bond transaction.
What that means if that if you have a 401k or IRA, reinvestment of dividends or shifting money to mitigate losses is taxed. The Roth people (who were taxed before they put their money in) get screwed to pay for little Janies Masters in Womyns studies Ot Johnnies PHD in Navel Lint chemistry.

Actually you do. You can't make $ 12,000 a year on minimum wage and still expect to be able to rent a place and survive. I've received grants and free money from my school, but that's because of my gpa and it was only enough to cover about two thirds of an entire year.

You can take less hours, though it will take you longer to finish, but it will be more affordable.
You can work full time and take classes in the evening or over the internet.
And there's always the military or military reserves and you can get college paid for that way.
You can also live at home and commute to a college closer to home.
You can work your butt off all summer living at home and save up for the tuition.
You can share an apartment with 2-3 people. Oh, but you'd have to share a room - which is what I did.

It can be done. People do it all the time. But, like I said, getting a loan is the easiest path.

Student loans are a scam. I used to be a paralegal for a student loan company. Part of my soul died at that job.
I just want Bernie Sanders to refinance my loans at a lower interest rate 😭
Not going to happen. The loan/university tuition cycle is too parasitic and too many people are making too much money off of you.

The first thing you mentioned is a huge mistake. I'm just letting people know. You have to pay the same in school fees every semester no matter how many credits you take which total to over $ 1000. You'll end up paying more overall. The cheapest way to get through college is to take 16-18 credits a semester.

And people don't do it all of the time anymore lol. You don't have experience with its current state. The only option that would work is the army route, but that's not a fair suggestion to make.

Bernie is the oldest candidate, but has the support of the youngest demographic. I realize most of you guys are in that generation, so I'm curious, are you feeling "the Bern"?

If so, what is about him that you like? What do you not like?
1. I'm not 100% Dem but I tend to lean that way on most policies.

2. He's against regime change (Hillary is a Neo-Con). The purpose of regime change is to implant a democracy into a crumbled nation, so that the US (and other strong nations) can control them and make $ $ off of them.

3. He's against BIG BANKS (as was JFK). Ridding of the big bank power is the only way to even the playing field in terms of economic equality. Money funnels up from the poor, and lines the pockets of the already rich. Working hard and getting an education is no longer enough to keep you a float. For the younger folks who were promised a well paying job after spending tons of money on an education to get us there.. that plan fell flat in 2008 when the banks collapsed. Somehow, the banks survived, and those who put in all that hard work were left with nothing. No jobs. A worthless degree. Still working for peanuts.

Sanders has tapped into that. At some point, the Regan era folks are going to die off. We're the ones left behind and he's willing to listen to us. If he gets elected.. Let's hope he doesn't end up like JFK.

That really answers my question. It's more than just the free education. He listens and respects the younger people.

So you think its right what the government is currently doing to the youth? Our government made over 100 billion through interest on student loans in 2015 😱

The cost of attending a university is the highest its ever been, and it continues to grow.

I disagree.

Education here is free. You DO have to pass an exam for whatever university you choose, and you just have to buy your books or xerox them. Prices for books are nowhere near US prices.

I would recommend everyone to get a Masters in Europe or to go there to study, if we're talking money and quality.

And if we're talking quality...based on the recent college grads and interns I deal with in our office..."quality" is not an adjective I would use to describe U.S. schools.

Prices keep increasing while the bar for achievement keeps getting lowered.

That could be considered medical necessity. As you get older, maintaining such a large member with a constant blood supply will put strain one your heart and blood vessels. Not to mention early onset dementia from a lack of blood supply to the brain.

Bernie seems to me like the approachable, kind, loveable grand pa. He seems real.
Bernie seems like the only candidate that truly cares about people.

Not special interests.

Interestingly enough...I felt that way about GW Bush as well, but thought he didn't have a strong enough will to tell the powers behind the scenes to back off.

I agree with part of this. Two of the biggest contributors in the run-up to 2008 were the repeal of Glass-Steagall and aggressive expansion of the Community Reinvestment Act. The first kept banks from speculation (as in mortgage backed securities, based on lessons learned after the Crash of 1929. The second was a 70s era law that aggressive expansion had banks issuing mortgages to people who couldn't afford to pay them. Combine the two, and banks were bundling securities backed by bad mortgages.
The big banks (as you put it) had their friends Washington privatize the gains but socialize the losses. This is one area both left and right have common ground IMHO.

So our choices astrologically between the parties are
A Capricorn
A Virgo
A Scorpio
Two Gemini's.

Be really interesting watching the Cap and Virgo spar it out in debates.
Watching a Gem and Scorp would be quite entertaining as well.

But we can't vote based on star sign.
I can probably guess who is who, but whom exactly is the Virgo? I hope it isn't whom I think!

I don't think the people should have to pay for college students' degrees. These kids don't deserve that, and there are too many degrees that don't need all these people majoring in them. I just think the cost of $ 11,300 per year at a state university is too high especially when minimum wage is shit. People with student loans should have them refinanced at lower interest rates, and people should no longer to be able to take out federal loans for university so that these boards lower the tuition rate to $ 50 a credit. The dream.
I suspect you are about 19, 20 tops? You have a lot to learn, as illustrated by that post. I suggest finishing high school first, then college where for sure you need a few semesters of Econ.
First of all, I ended it with "the dream" ya twit. Second, universities are starting to lower rates on gen ed class credits to $ 50 to compete with community colleges. Economics is a social science, and I know more about it than you I'm willing to bet. Do you have any higher degrees in economics? It doesn't sound like it. These economists out here are fucking radical as hell when it comes to predictions. They're no statisticians.
