Why are guys less motivated than women in life?

I'm mostly talking about people within my generation ranging from 20-32 year old these days. I always come across tons of women who are like on their way or are already doctors, engineers, lawyers, other high paying professions while the average guy counterpart to them isn't doing as well nor appears to be in any rush to be as ambitious. Not talking about the rare sprinkles of CEOs and entrepreneurs (within age 20-32..), just among your average random sample of people that you'd collect from like the street or a dating site. Some of these high income earning women are supporting their husbands while they're like stay-at-home dads and it's just so astonishing to me. I'm not a feminist or any new age label and love how women can have this kind of power these days but what the fuck are guys doing with their lives? I've literally once gotten rejected over being too ambitious and started dialing back. Once I mention my career and life goals they run for the hills. Because apparently a woman can't be both ambitious and able to raise a family (really makes me wonder the kind of people they've encountered in life). I personally want a doctorates eventually, but I'm not gonna limit my pool of men to just other doctorates since a degree doesn't define much, but some guys seriously get their egos threatened and want someone who makes less or none to them. Why do guys work in such extremities and just not get their shit together in life in general?

Personally i believe smoking weed regularly like many young boys/men do over a prolonged period of time has a very adverse effect on one's ability to follow through with his ambitions. Add to this the above mentioned games, porn and the need to bro network. . . and you have a dwindling amount of time available for studies.

This goes on at a time when the brain still isn't fully developed, coincidentally that part of the brain that makes decisions, so bad decisions are bound to happen and in that time, bad decisions can have a life long impact.

This all happens on a "stage" on which the boys think that somehow they'll make it through because of the privileged social status they enjoy so there's even more excuse for slacking.

I also agree with what's mentioned above, that girls/young women have been realizing they can't count on a man so it's best if they seek security for themselves through selfactualization of the profitable kind. Also they keep being reminded it's a man's world, it's probably good for motivation if you're a aprticular type of character (coincidentally that particular type is among the most ambitious).

I also play League of Legends every night, along with a hefty Steam library. I have played PC games RELIGIOUSLY for the last 15+ years. I use it for stress relief purposes. It allows me to to decompress from life, and adulting.

In my line of work I could literally hire and fire my ex. We're the same age but I excelled in my career. I've always been the youngest in my departments but that's because I never fear failure. I always go after better paying jobs.

MAINLY because I'm single and without children. I know a lot of men who are brought down by women who don't even want them to be successful.

I have had two guys my age say that I'm too much women for them. So I attract older guys. I've been dumped bcz I'm intimidating.

Guys IMO today are focused on the wrong things(women, drugs, kids). So that's why I generally see A decline in successful men.

Women for the most part could care less about a man dragging them down if their already successful so it's easier to remain focused and unmoved.

Also, if you need a male counterpart.

My Gemini ex-husband. Is an Executive that makes 250,000K a year. Has no degree, worked his way to the top. Had jobs created for him.

He plays more PC games than me.

So again, BULLSHIT.

Strange. It's really the opposite where I'm from. Most of the dudes I knew in high school are ahead and a good bit of the women I knew from then. Are not really even working or doing much of anything.

The last part was not the point of my post and there for lols, it was the first thing I clicked when I decided to see what Google had to say.

The point was not to personalize my post. If I personalized it I could say my last ex is currently 26 and made $ 135k last year. But he's literally the youngest guy at his firm. All his co-workers were from their late 30s and up. He was an example of someone super ambitious and rare among *my generation*. He was no where near the average guy of my generation.

The discussion is about the average population... what kind of people you'd find if you went outside and collected 100 random males and 100 random females, the reality and fact is the women would be more successful than the male. Why would that be the case is what I want to hear peoples' opinions on.

You just notice the women because they stand out more, are young and sassy and flaunt it. The Men are grinding away and it takes a while for them stand out against all the older Men.

And yes, if we personalized this topic, our social class would have a big impact on how we perceived all this. I am constantly surrounded by people who's children are pursuing degrees in the sciences, medicine, and law and aiming for six figure jobs. Personally among that I see the women more ambitious than the men (like the sisters doing better than their brothers) and always wondered what was up with that.

My highly religious father once told me my purpose in life is to be a good wife and have babies.

I have the type of personality where you tell me I can’t do something...I’m gonna want to do it.

I also saw how my mom gave up her education and budding career to be a stay at home mom. I saw how unhappy and trapped she was. Vowed never to be in that position.

I have two very motivated men close to me

One is training to be a film and tv producer and strives very hard to attain his goals

The other is a designer and works very hard and is running a very successful business

My father worked hard, as did my grandfathers and uncle

My brother in law works hard...two jobs...he runs two companies

I see men every day working hard, making a living and supporting their families



The irony is, in part, it's down to women (and men) to ensure their sons don't waste their lives away smoking, drinking, playing video games and whatever else they do that isn't productive

Young men need encouragement, love and motivation both at school and from parents. Often when left to waste their lives without support, they often fall

I haven't done my promos this season yet. I got pissed to all hell the last few seasons. I would get to Gold 5 promos, and then get matched up with idiot AFKers, or against Plats. I think I did gold promos about 4-5 times. So I haven't played ranked seriously since mid last season. I mostly just play normals and arams so I don't get so pissed off. lol

I don't have any daughters, but if I did, I would have been worse.

i've seen this alot with men staying at home more, too. They really enjoy it. lol

i think it's technology that is providing this kind of service for them. As for the women, unless they too are gamers, they'll end up working out of the house alot and providing for the men.

i have a couple of female cousins that are doing very well successful and their men stay home.

their men aren't poor either, they like to play video games and go out to football /baseball games,

and it's because these guy's won the lottery with getting something around 100k to half a million a year or something for life. so they dont need to work.

Women have a plan in their lives (kids, husband, maybe career), men not so much anymore. A man is biologically driven by sex in the first place, which makes him want to be ambitious in life in order to get the the recognition and women he wants. Since women earn their own money and thanks to tinder, porn, hookers and internet his ambitions will decrease over time because he gets his needs satisfied even easier nowadays - there is no reason for him to become a big shot in life anymore, unless he really wants to marry and be a dad, which is another topic.

Our parents and grandparents didn't have that "luxury" of choices. Men were raised to be providers, women were raised to be housewives. Men used their power/money/jobs to get sex, while women were dependent on them.

And btw, If it wasn't for dxp, let alone other internet activities, we would already be more productive, either at our jobs or by doing something for our health or just having sex. Before I got into the Internet world, I was spending at least 10 hrs a day in the daylight even when having a day off in winter.
